Trying to lose weight, will being a vegetarian for a while help?!
Answers: I need to lose 75lbs, I have another question on here about me losing 75lbs, but I forgot to ask if I became a vegetarian for at least 6 months can I lose weight. I was thinking about just eating sea food, what would be most helpful....losing this weight is very important to me. Please Help!!!
yes but dont you think you might gain it back when you start eating meat again? being a vegetarian is a lifestyle change. instead try cutting out red meats, porks, etc. stick to fish, tuna in water (not oil), small pieces of chicken. And eat lots of spinach and vegetables with every meal. Deprivation is never the way to go.. you don't want to gain all that weight plus some back do you?j
if you eat out alot and drink soda. stop immediately. every time you want soda drink water instead until the feeling goes away. some people loose 10 to 30 pounds right there just quitting fast food/restaurants and soda. << i lost 15 pounds by just cutting out soda
i recommend the book how to eat like a hot chick. that has some really delicous recipes and its only about $11 at target. It has helped me.
or try any of Jorge Cruise's books. I think the best one to start off with is the three hour diet or 8 minutes in the morning
good luck!
but if you seriously want to become a vegan or vegetarian i suggest the raw diet
yes it will help you. meat has a very high fat source. but if you overload on carbs like bread and pasta to replace meat that will not help your case.
Go check out the Biggest Losers website. That program is great. Have you seen it on TV? Tuesday night, 8:00pm, NBC.
The idea is the eat a low gycemic diet, exercise and do weights. It means no sugar, white bread, white potatoes, fried foods, etc. And aerobic exercise will burn the fat. Weights will increase your metabolism and tone your muscles so you don't sag after all that fat is gone.
Good Luck.
You don't need to be a vegan to lose weight. My friend is one and she is thick.
Eat the right carbs, alot of proteins & fiber....watch out for FAT intake. Here is an example of my favorite food items to give you an idea:
Breakfast: Quaker instant oatmeal, Kashi oatmeal, Kashi GoLean cereal, 2 eggs or 2 egg whites with french toast
Snacks: Fruit, protein bar, Slim Fast granola bar, cheerios cheddar snack mix, fat-free crackers
Lunch: Lean cuisines
Dinner: 3 ounces of >> salmon, tilapia, shrimp, chicken & steak
Side Dishes: green bean & cherry tomato salad, spinach salad, cauliflower, etc.
You would probably lose weight on a veggie diet. But why limit it to 6 months? Why not just turn veggie all together? Losing weight is a life long process that you have to stick to everyday. Why go 6 months without eating red meat and then losing weight if you are just going to go back to red meat and gain that weight right back? Losing weight is one thing but keeping it off is another. Go veggie for the rest of your life, you will feel and be healthier.
Just eating seafood for six months is an utterly ridiculous idea. Besides that, seafood is NOT classed as vegetarian.
Working on the basis that you are genuine poster and not a not a troll:
If you eat healthy vegetarian – (i.e.) lots of fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, pulses etc… and limit or cease your intake of refined flours, beer, wine, fizzy sodas, hard cheese, sugars and processed food – you will lose weight, especially if combined with drinking pure filtered water and exercising daily.
I know a lot of overweight vegetarians, because they live on bread, high dairy intake, pasta, sweets, processed foods, fizzy sodas and don’t exercise.
.
Not really. Just watch what you eat. I know a few fat vegetarians. Yes they are out there. lol. When I needed to lose some weight I went on a diet of rice, baked chicken (skinless/boneless) and brocolli. It gets old after a while but it works. You can always change the veggie or have fish instead of chicken but keep eating whole grain rice. Its great for you. Drink lots of water. Water makes your body lose weight easier. Drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. I know it seems like alot but it will get easier after a while. But losing weight isn't easy. You also have to work out. I'm not saying join the gym but just devote an hour once every 3 days to doing something physical. Walking is common but also going to a skating rink (Roller or ice), bowling. Anything that can raise your heart rate.
