White Sugar?!

Question: Is white sugar vegetarian?

Answers: Is white sugar vegetarian?

White cane sugar is sometimes filtered through charred animal bones (C&H and Domino are both bone char filtered.) Beet sugar, which is more prevalent in some parts of the country, is not bone char filtered, so is veg-friendly. You can also buy raw sugars (like turbinado,) alternative sweeteners (like agave and stevia,) or look for non- bone char filtered white sugar. I get vegan cane sugar at Whole Foods; it's more expensive, but I don't use a lot of it anyway and it's fair trade. You can also look for Florida Crystals brand, which isn't bone char filtered.

I think it might be. If it comes from sugar cane than it should be as long as it doesn't have a bunch of crap in it that the american industry loves to shove in its food!

The thing with white sugar is that some is filtered through bone char. I personally try to eat tourbino sugar....

not organic it is super processed...turbinado sugar is best from a good organic food market

I think that if it says "beet sugar" then it is not processed through bone char. However, all cane sugar is, unless it is organic and un-refined.

Hope that helps?
