Vegans: Were you surprised that vegan food taste better than animal based foods?!

Question: Since the world/media (meat/dairy companies) we live in leads us to believe a meal does/can not taste good unless it contains some form of animal product, vegans were you surprised that vegan food taste better than animal based foods, and that there is way more variety?

YES!
Talk about being pleasantly surprised!! :-D
I made some vegan blueberry-banana muffins last weekend and they were SO good!
Blueberry muffins have always been a fave of mine, but ever since I stopped eating eggs, I didn't eat them anymore. I found the recipe and they were actually tastier than their egg-laden counterparts.
When I actually ate meat, I hated meatloaf. But I recently made a homemade mock meatloaf that tasted delicious!!
Surprised. Impressed. Excited.
YEAH!! Vegan food kicks butt on SO many levels. And it's so much better for us!

I like it! Only time its bad if my aunts invite me out to dinner...>.< applebee's SUCKS for vegans...

YES I was surprised. Even more when I realized that I have more meal options being a vegan.

Every vegan I've ever met has told me how much they miss bacon. There is no vegan alternative to bacon

YEAHH!!! and might I add, vegan ice cream is deee-lish!

Well, "vegan food" consists of vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, and beans, so it's not as if I never tasted those things when I was a meat-eater!

I know one thing ... I've discovered lots of new foods on a veg diet that I probably never would have considered as a meat-eater. Nature offers us a wonderful variety of flavors. I'm not surprised by that at all ...

Yes. I crave Morningstar's Breakfast Nugget things and Chick'n Patties more than I ever craved meat lol.

I am not vegan or vegetarian but I love a lot of the non meat dishes out there. I eat my share of meat too but I'm glad there are yummy alternatives for the times I want something different.

I love vegan baked goods and was very shocked when I first turned vegan how easily adaptable the non vegan recipes were AND how closely they resembled to the original recipe. I think most vegans (from my experience) become obsessed with adapting their favorite "old" recipes to their new lifestyle. If you want to become a vegan fan check out 'vegan cupcakes take over the world', You'll never think that vegan food is bland and non creative.

Um why would a vegan ever admit to saying that their meat-based meals taste better than the vegan foods. Either they truly are disgusted with the meat, or they are hiding inside that they miss the taste. I really don't see any other logical ways

Yes fruits and veges tasted better, but i dont call myself vege (went back) i just say i dont eat meat, i assume that one day nobody will eat meat so i dont give myself tittles like that.

humans are HERBIVORES, amd i think the guy above has a teeth problem

No, not really.... so many "normal" foods are accidentally vegetarian/vegan and people (omnis included ;)) eat them every day.

In a way yes. I never liked most animal products, so I thought vegan food was going to be better, but *okay*, but the more I learn about vegan food and the soooo many options I realize that vegan food truly taste the best. No dead bodies, hormones, blood, mucous, feces, urine, etc to differ the taste and make you nauseous, as well that is a plus side!

No, actually.
I had many Asian friends that ate lots of vegetables with not problems at all and ate lots. Me, I ate almost none at all.
When I first changed my diet. I literally could not taste my food that was now without animal products, salt, added flavours, preservatives, colours, msg, etc. I'd eat some steamed veggies... nothing... tasted very bland, nearly flavourless. But I kept going -- I knew that it would change. It took a year until I could actually taste my food and say, "Wow, this tastes great. I ate the same thing a year ago and couldn't taste a thing." Eventually, I learnt to cook, added interesting ingredients, and the more I learnt the better it tasted. Now the foods I eat taste 10 times better than anything I can remember from before. If I try to eat something like some kind of Pringles chips or somethng... uuuuuuggg.. they are SICK tasting... and all these junkfoods I used to eat... I can't stand the taste now, they are absolutely gross. I can taste them for what they are now.

I'm not vegan OR vegetarian, and I think vegan/vegetarian food is usually disgusting and there is FAR less variety and better tastes than DELICIOUS meat, poultry, eggs, fish and dairy foods.

Your question itself is invalid and probably will be considered arrogant by most people who eat "normal human food", (meaning an omnivorous diet). One needs only to look at the dental structure of human beings to know that nature intends for us to eat meats. Anyway, your question assumes a fact not in evidence, namely that vegan food "taste[s] better than animal[-]based foods..."

This is, of course, purely a matter of individual preference and there is no way to prove that your assertion is correct, so why make it? The only reason that I can see is that you wish to impose your personal tastes and preferences upon others.

Good luck with that.

I'm gonna have a nice ribeye...and maybe some veal cutlets. Hmmm....veal.

Edit: Yep, nothing better than some bacon-wrapped veal, eh?

What will happen when science proves that plants feel physical pain and emotional loss? ..What if every blade of grass screams when its severed by a lawnmower blade? Will all the people who became vegans out of conscience in order to avoid harming sentient beings suddenly be forced to eat sand and plastic? That's gonna be funny.
