Vegans this is for you.?!
1. No whey (this could include bread, even if its ingrediant #40)
2. No cream (not just sour cream, but using cream of mushroom soup instead of milk for mac and cheese.) I honestly thought Cream of Mushroom Soup was vegan cause it had no milk directly in it.
3. No leather (that is just going off the deep end but I guess for an animal activest its not) IDK???
4: No Jello (I was in shock to hear this.) Really ture?
5: No Marshmellows (same thing- in total shock)
Answers: These are things that I have heard and I want to know how many of them apply to you as some vegans are less picky than others.

Here is a pretty good list:

yes! it all applies to me because i'm an ethical vegan =D! though, I'm pretty sure this must apply to any vegan. also, certain salts and sugars can't be use because they are bleached with animal bone.
There are no vegans that eat/use any of that stuff. It goes way beyond those common items too.
Vegans do not use animal products, so all of the above are true.
1-2. Whey, sour cream and cream are milk products.
Most cream of mushroom soup has chicken stock, so the milk part is irrelevent.
3. Leather is an animal product.
4-5. Jello and marshmallows both contain gelatin which is made from bone marrow.
I use alternative, I eat jello, with vegetable fat. I have soy sour cream, I make my own bread, with other alternative.
I do not eat meat, nor dairy. But my diet is not different, it just has alternative ingredents.
Yup. And not just vegans.
Most vegetarians (who aren't just following some trend) will also avoid Gelatine (the ingredient in jelly and marshmallows), and animals fats...as well as many E numbers, which are derived from insects.
But, to be fair, it isn't about being more, or less 'picky', it's about remaining true to your own personal beliefs - which vary from person to person.
It doesn't matter what others think of you, but it DOES matter what you think of yourself! ?
What you heard is right. But there are no vegans that are less picky or more picky, vegan is vegan.
You either are or you're not. Vegan means that you do not use or eat animal products. You don't buy and wear leather, you don't eat whey or casein...you don't support the meat industry at all.
Marshmallows have gelatin, same as jello.
I mostly make my own bread, but I find breads without whey out there. I love the challenge and I love the amount thought I put into my food, I like that I don't eat "just whatever".
I understand how you think that it is going off the deep end, but what you need to understand is that it is a lifestyle that we chose. Whether it is for the environment, humanitarian, animal suffering, they are all valid reasons.
You seem as though you are interested, you should research why people are vegan. But, if you do, stay away from aggressive sites like Peta...there are things that you probably don't want to see in those sites. It would give you a better understand of why people chose this lifestyle...then maybe it will be not see deep end-ish for ya :)
good luck
Vegans don't eat, use, purchase or wear anything of animal origin, so of course we don't eat any of the things on your list. Gelatin (jello, marshmallows, etc) is made from rendering animal bones, hooves and connective tissue. That's possibly even more disgusting than just eating animal flesh.
Cream of mushroom soup *does* have milk in it directly. Campbell's lists, among other ingredients, cream, whey, "dried dairy blend," extract of whey and casein. All of those are dairy products.
