It could be hypothetical, but serve purpose.

a) Karma

Every religion emphasizes human improvement, love, respect for others, sharing other people's suffering. On these lines every religion had more or less the same viewpoint and the same goal. Universal brotherhood means nonviolence to both humans and animals. As Newton's third law of motion states, for every action there must be an equal and opposite reaction. On the universal scale this is called the law of karma, meaning what goes around comes around. This affects every individual, as well as communities and countries. As the nation sows, so shall it reap. This is something we should take very seriously, especially in our attempt to bring peace, harmony, and unity into the world. If so much violence is produced by the killing of animals, where do you think the reactions to this violence goes? It comes back to us in so many ways, such as the form of neighborhood and community crime, and on up to world wars. Violence breeds violence. Therefore, this will continue unless we know how to change. Isaac Bashevis Singer, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature, asked, “How can we pray to God for mercy if we ourselves have no mercy? How can we speak of rights and justice if we take an innocent creature and shed its blood?” He went on to say, “I personally believe that as long as human beings will go shedding the blood of animals, there will never be any peace.”

b) Reincarnation

If you know Pythagoras and his maths were pretty logic. Besides inventing and/or populariazing the Pythagorean Theorum, Pythagoras was also known as a great spiritual leader of his day. Pythagoras’s followers, called Pythagoreans called life after life the “wheel of birth” which closely ties to the Buddhist term “samsara” or cyclic existence. Buddha Shakyamuni and Pythagoras were contemporaries. Because his followers believed in reincarnation, they also treated slaves fairly and saw equality between men and women because you never knew if in your next life you were to be born a slave or a member of the opposite sex. Pythagoras was an advocate of a vegetarian diet not only because it was wrong to kill another being, but because he believed eating meat disturbed the humors inside the body. Of course Pythagoras also put great belief in numbers; teaching that all things could be broken down into numbers and their relationships. This was the key to understanding the world. He also applied numbers to musical intervals and music. Great thinkers like Plato were influenced by him and Plato, himself also believed in reincarnation.

c) You were a veg*n in your former life?

No, desired by pretty logics. My kids are children of a vegetarian father, but they prefer to be vegans instead.

d) That people that are animal abusers in this life, then come back as abused animals in the next life?

The ethic of reciprocity or "The Golden Rule" is a fundamental moral principle which simply means "treat others as you would like to be treated." It is arguably the most essential basis for the modern concept of human rights.

(Quran 2:28) "From the (earth) did We Create you, and into it Shall We return you, And from it shall We Bring you out once again." (The Quran, 20:55). "And Allah has produced you from the earth, Growing (gradually), And in the End He will return you Into the (earth), And raise you forth (Again at the Resurrection)." (The Quran, 71:17-18). "Nor will they there Taste Death, except the first Death; and He will preserve Them from the Penalty Of the Blazing Fire." (The Quran, 44:56). "Is it (the case) that We shall not die, except our first death, And that we Shall not be punished?' Verily this is The supreme achievement! For the like of this Let all strive, Who wish to strive." (The Quran, 37:58-61).

All Hebrew and Christian scriptures support reincarnation: the Bible, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Christian Gnostic gospels, the Torah, the Hebrew Bible, the Apocrypha, the Kabbalah and Zohar. Many of the Biblical references to "resurrection" refer to spiritual regeneration while already physically alive instead of the reanimation of corpses on the so-called "Last Day."

Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism : Ahimsa is certainly not cowardice; it is wisdom. And wisdom is the cumulative knowledge of the existing divine laws of reincarnation, karma, dharma, the all-pervasiveness and sacredness of things, blended together within the psyche or soul of the Hindu. Peace is a reflection of spiritual consciousness, and violence is a reflection of unevolved or base consciousness. The Hindu knows that at this time on this planet those of the lower nature, unevolved people, are society's antagonists. Being unevolved, they are of the lower nature, self-assertive, confused and protective of their immediate environment. There is a spiritual urge in every soul for peace. Even if a person is violent now, he or she inwardly yearns for peace.

I'm pretty agnostic and i don’t discount the possibility of these things but i wouldn’t say that i believe in any one of them and karmic retribution is not on my motivations for choosing my diet list. I kinda feel like the more you know about ontology and religion the more willing you are to admit that you know nothing.

I don't beleive in anything like that.

I just think we are animals that happen to have free thought.

To me, religion is an ancient method of controlling people and defining society guidelines

I think re-incarnation would be part of that. Its like threatening you to behave in this life.

I think I wish i believed in some higher greater good, it would be nice to think there was some other purpose, but i can't just make myself believe can I ?

My spiritual philosophy is best expressed by Angel:
"If there is no great glorious end to all this, if - nothing we do matters, - then all that matters is what we do."

a) yes
b) yes
c) never really thought of that one before
d) no because animals are far nicer creatures than animal abusers!

No x 4.

The spirit, former lives, reincarnation, karma etc....is nothing but pure fantasy.

I believe in scientific investigation and factual reality and leave spirit and religion to those who aren't interested in pursuing the truth.

I consider myself spiritual, and being spiritual played a big role in me becoming a vegan (from a vegetarian) and being vegan has helped me be more spiritual. Gandhi explains this better on his journey as a vegetarian. I believe in reincarnation. And the others not so much. And I think that people that are animal abusers in this life, then come back as being extremely abused as humans, or suffer tremendously, and have an *awakening* and realize the horror and pain in the world, and become a vegan, and do their best to help the abused, animals and humans. Karma does not seem to happen, you could be the nicest person ever, abused, horrible things happen to you and people treat you like crap, and stay nice but nothing good ever comes back, or nothing worse happens to the bad people.

Gosh the spiritual people get thumbs down.

a) Yes, I believe you get what you pay for. There are some bad people that I wish karma would catch up with, though!
b) No. I can't believe in literal reincarnation. I think it makes a lot of sense in a symbolic way, but I just can't take it literally.
c) N/A.
d) N/A.

I'm a white American who converted to the Baha'i Faith, but I'm lacto-vegetarian. That is not part of Baha'i belief, but I used to hang around with people who belong to Hare Krishna.

I have read the Bhagavad Gita several times. I have watched two different movie versions of the Mahabharat and I realize that the concept of karma is not as simplistic as a lot of westerners think.

The end of the Mahabharat is totally surprising to a westerner because the Karavas (bad guys) all went to heaven and the Pandava (good guys) go to hell because they still have debts to pay off before they can go to heaven. Yes, that sounds like real life to me.

My wife is Hindu, and she believes in reincarnation. She says I "must have been a Hindu in my last janam."

a) Somewhat
b) Not really... I agree with Majnun on this one.
c) see "b"
d) see "b"

a) Not in the sense of Karma...but I think that if you do good then you notice when good things are done to you, but if you always do bad, you will focus on the negative in your life.

c) no
d) no

Although, I can't say why some of us gals are only concerned with our hair and nails, and some of us want to save the world...I don't get it!

I do believe in positivity...if you can stay positive, you can see the open doors, you will appreciate the smaller gestures and kindnesses, and little things will make you smile, so you can be happy easily! When you are dark, you miss chances or are afraid to leap.

I don't know if there is a higher force...the closest religion I have is pagan, mother earth...balance, we are here as part of the earth...God did not make the earth for us, all the earths creatures are not here for our taking...I think that our faulty interpretations of god(s) is what lets people chose not to care, to follow along...no questions asked..it's all men their angry gods, vengeful, full of sin.....it prays on our guilt so we can't see the big picture.

I don't know if I even came close to answering your question :)

karma, no. i believe what you sow you will reap. if you sow sparingly you will reap sparingly, if you sow generously you will reap generously. reincarnation, no. i believe that when you die this was your life on earth, the earth will pass away so will the heaven, and there will be a new earth and a new heaven, for the old will pass away, the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back to receive His church and bring peace and justice. but i die before the rapture then i will go to be with the Lord, there will be no coming back as an animal or something like that. there is no evidence about reincarnation. there is reason to believe the holy bible though, one being that over hundreds of prophecies have been fulfilled to the exact truth, another being that people, places and events have been found and proven time and time again, and archeological discoveries in the hundreds of thousands have been found to prove the bible as actual history fact, and when i called on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ He saved me from all of my sins and I have the assurance from Him giving me the Holy Spirit that when I die I will go to be with Him in heaven, perfect love perfect peace. any other religion has no God coming down in the flesh to die for them, like Jesus Christ did and non has raised from the dead, like Jesus did, doing this because our sin deserves death but since He gave us the free gift of salvation beating sin and death, it is our choice, to believe in fables or accept His Son Jesus Christ as Lord. if you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. If you confess your sins HE is faithful and just to forgive you for your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. God loved the world so much He gave His only Son that whoever believed in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. Would you give up your only son, let him be beat and crucified though He was sinless, to save the whole world? God did. He did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world. To save you, the truth is right before you, Jesus Christ God who loves you so much, He wants you to open the door to Him and He will come in and dine with you. Jesus will either be your Savior or your Judge when this life comes to a halt. The cool thing is that He gave us a chioce, what'll it be? What have you done with His Son?

yupp with everything you said!

They better come back as animals so they know what its like but its still wrong no matter what!

I used to hunt and sell brontosaurus burgers in my past life, now I am a flexitarian. I guess a vegan gets to look forward to their next life as a droopy, dying plant.

As Nyaya says: Hypothetical question are non sense and need not be answered.

no to all the above ,and in this life man reaps what he sew's

Well, all I know is that I was a sadistic concentration camp guard in my previous life, yet I'm still doing great in this one. Sweet!
