Do vegans believe in using service dogs for the blind or?!
Answers: search and rescue dogs to help find lost people?
But of course they do, poor things on leashes all the time. Thats animal cruelty no matter how you look at it!
just because your vegan doesnt make you an animal rights activist
Vegans are against how animals that you eat are treated
so they don't have a problem with service animals unless they are treated badly...
Well, you'd have to somehow not be exploiting the animal. It could not be a slavery type situation. No chains, equal treatment. So if the Dog got to sit at the table (if it wanted to) sleep where it wanted, (even in your bed) and got paid equal wages for equal work. Yeah I think a vegan might only find 1 oor 2 things to still gripe about. It might just fly.
Service animals and working dogs are typically treated very well--a dog is trained to respond to positive reinforcement when s/he performs a task correctly. I have read that K-9 officers consider their dogs full partners, and they live with their service animals. When the animal is retired for age, s/he stays with the officer. When the dog dies, s/he is accorded police burial. I have also read that some service animals are rescues; they get a second chance at life.
But here's a great story: During the Iraq "War", a soldier was patrolling with her dog when they were injured in a blast. Her last words before losing consciousness were to ask about the welfare of her dog. After she recovered and was discharged, she wanted to keep the dog. However, he was too young to be retired. I believe it took an act of Congress to retire the dog early so he could stay with his handler.
Humans working with service animals love and respect them.
There's no generalization, probably some fringe vegans might want no contact with animals whatsoever in their lives. I think that it's fine to peacefully coexist alongside animals, and service animals, pets and using dogs to find people or sniff out drugs at the airport doesn't seem wrong to me... as long as they are loved, cared for and appreciated for their service.
lol I think that you should start defining which vegans you are asking your questions....like...animal rights vegan...or vegans for environmental causes.....because most of your questions don't apply to me and probably lots of people here, so you just come off as ignorant. you know? I'm just trying to help you out here.
Some do. Some don't.
Obsseesssiioonnn.
You need to write down on a card the following statement. Maybe that way you will not have to miss school to keep asking these questions.
animal = love
meat = reject.
animal + love = peace
meat + you = stupid
Vegans are not all of one mind, but you have to know that by now. Yet you still ask a question starting 'Do vegans believe...?'.
In answer to this question, probably some don't, though I've never met one. I do.
My sister had a guide dog from an early age. He was a much loved member of the family until his much mourned death.
She wasn't a vegan so no need for you to call names.
Vegans try to minimise their contribution to animal suffering and exploitation as far as they possibly can. Minimising human suffering is even more important to most of them.
Typically working dogs like this are much loved and very well cared for.
Thing is, nobody can win with you. You lie awake at night thinking up these questions. If someone says 'No I don't' you say nutjob. If someone says 'Yes I do', you say hypocrite. Your logic is seriously flawed.
IF they are informed, they would be fine with it.
People who REALLY know dogs, know that they are NEVER happier than when they have a job to do... A border collie would rather herd sheep than eat.... a Newfoundland would rather jump into water to rescue someone than mate...Golden retrievers trained to search and rescue see the job as a wonderful "game" that they LOVE to play..
Service dogs such as guide dogs, seizure alert dogs, handicap assist dogs.. love beign with their person and are very appreciated and loved..
The lives of "Dogs with jobs" are MUCh fuller than the pets who end up spending very little time with people..
I can only speak for myself. I do. 1) Dogs love humans 2) Dogs love to work(it's interesting for them) 3) Dogs are made to be close companions
