Iron deficiency linked to nose bleeds?!
Answers: today i got a horrible bloody nose that lasted over an hour. recently i stopped eating meat and my mom thinks that my bloody nose was linked with that. i just got another one right now... what can be causing them?
It is not a symptom of iron deficiency. However, if you have recently become a vegetarian, you should consult with a nutritionist or, if you are younger, a pediatrician who can determine if you should be taking an iron supplement (ie - just because the nosebleed is not a symptom of iron deficiency doesn't mean you don't have it, it is sometimes hard to detect without a test).
As for the nosebleed, I would say that if it doesn't happen again, you're probably fine. If they keep up, you should consult a doctor who may be able to determine the actual cause.
no, i am iron deficient and do not have a prob w/nose bleeds. Generally nose bleeds are because the lining of your nose is really thin
