Why vegetarian?!
Answers: I am a BIG animal LOVER, but I must admit I do enjoy meat... if I decide to give up meat what are some of the meatless alternatives that taste the best & what would be the best way to make the adjustment easy.
Great question. Is eating meat immoral? What about fish? If the animal is raised for slaughter is it less immoral? Vegetarian or Vegan? That's a big difference! Is this a health thing? The production of most meats is also a real strain on the environment (so is a lot of farming, though). On a gram for gram basis, meat requires almost 10 times the amount of water to get to market!
We wouldn't think about eating our family dog or cat here in the US, but in India the cow is sacred. Many cultures think eating shellfish like clams and oysters is bizarre, and we love 'em!
There are basic health issues, red meat in particular is tough on out digestion, loaded with fat, and often laced with hormones steroids and worse. Contrary to common sense, you'd be amazed by the obesity amoung vegetarians (though not vegans). And talk to your doctor, many doctors want you to continue to eat some meat for the protein.
You'll never find a taste/texture/satisfaction substitute for most meats. There's no point in trying to fool yourself. Tofu turkey and gardenburgers will just make you miss the real thing more. I do find that things like mushrooms and eggplants satisfy meat craving (sometimes).
At the end of the day, I say "moderation in all things."
quorn is good it tastes a bit like chicken and if you put in sauces and stuff it tastes fine. i never liked tofu, but you might, its kinda squishy and jelly like. im not vegetarian becasue i like meat !!
I f you love animals, you will not eat them!!!! there are lots of vegetarian options everywhere!! There really nice, and less calories!
Most of the vegetarians I know made the switch for a healthier lifestyle more than for moral reasons. Here's a recipe search for veggie options:

LOTS of good ideas...
i love animals...... all of them...... i love them. im only 13 and i was a vegeterian since i was about 5 till 11 and a half and then ate meat once and kept eating it. i dont eat it that much and i know it is what ur body needs. theres always fake meat. it good.
Meat dosen't look or taste so good after you see Earthings or Meet Your Meat. I had a hard time giving up chicken but after seeing MYM I am now sickened by it. There are lots of good fake meats, Bocca and Morningstar Farms products are really good. Especially the fake chicken products. It is very surprising how easy it is to go veg., I never thought it would be:) Good luck.
i am a vegetarian, i stopped eating meat at nineteen as i just kept thinking about the animal i was eating and i stopped enjoying the taste of meat, i stopped eating meat slowely i would still eat the vegies out of a stew but not the meat just over time i took more meat out. I do eat fish now and then, i also have iron tablets if i feel like my iron levels are low you get them from the chemist. its really hard when out for dinner at a resturant their might be two things you can choose from but i am very happy with the way my diet is, i eat a lot of pasta i love it loads of salad and vegies of course and their are lots of soya products in the fridge section of the supermarket. Good Luck
There are a huge variety of beans (lentils, legumes) that are delicious and inexpensive. Pick a bean, a grain, some veggies, an herb or seasoning and start cooking! The possibilities are endless.
Plus there are salads, soups, casseroles, veggie chili, etc. Try spaghetti sauce with cooked lentils in it instead of meat sauce. Or veggie joes (use cooked lentils instead of ground beef, your usual sauce and seasoning and add zucchini, green peppers or eggplant).
And that's not even considering the whole range of ethnic cooking, such as hummus, quesadillas, baba ghanoush, stir fries, etc.
And now there are wonderful "fake meat" products on the market such as Quorn, Morningstar Farms and so on.
In truth, there is such a wide variety of really delicious foods available for vegetarians that it's easy to not even miss meat.
You just have to try meat substitutes for yourself as everyone has different tastes. I like boca vegan burgers, yves veggie ground beef, gardenburger sausage patties and morningstar farms veggie chicken strips. Other will tell you those ones taste awful and you should try their favorites. Lots of veg*ns, including myself, don't eat them very often. I prefer to prepare my meals with whole food versus overprocessed stuff, but they fit the bill on occasion and can make the transition easier.
