As you do your research and hopefully you will look further than the v&v section as their is a ton of info on the general internet.

Be careful about the terms that you use and be correct in your report about your information. The use of food additives ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_foo... ) or
( http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~lrd/foodaddi.h... ) are ingredients added to foods for preservation and a vital part of making our food supply safe. Those two sites can give you much information and get you started in the right direction.

Now the part of your question that you referenced regarding growth promotants. Read question number 3 at the following site: http://www.beeftechnologies.com/questAns...

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/03/2...

http://www.allbusiness.com/trade-develop...

The product Monsanto sells to dairy farmers (not all farmers use this product) is described at the following website:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bovine_soma...

You will realize when reading this that dairy cattle will naturally produce "bovine somatotropin" a protein hormone in their bodies from their pituatary gland. Cattle, hogs, chickens and all other animals will naturally produce hormones the same as humans do within their bodies. Some cattleman will use an ear implant which helps to stimulate growth and feed efficiency. All products are scrutinized and tested by the Food and Drug Administration for public safety. Good luck with your project.

IDK

To make animals bigger it is normally hormones they inject.

To find websites Google wouldn't go a miss.
