What is your favorite way to make sushi?!
Answers: What is your favorite way to make (vegan!) sushi? Recipes? Tips? What do you like to put in it?
I love sushi! I use brown rice or quinoa with a variety of vegetables (avocado, cucumbers, carrots, celery, spinach, & asparagus), and roll it with nori or portobello mushrooms.
When I make it with the rice on the outside I put nutritional yeast, flax or/& sesame seeds on outside or/& top.
I like to dip it in hummus, or homemade vegan sauces, soy sauce (low sodium).

i like to put rice and seaweed in it
I like cucumbers, peppers, a tiny bit of wasabi, and who knows what else.
You ought to pick up a sushi making book. There is a lot to it, it is an art form, and required more than just knowing how to cut fish. But There is a good sushi roll for a beginner called a "California" roll, which is strips of cucumber, thin slices of avocado, some fake or real crab, tobiko (flying fish roe..optional). Wrapped in laver (seaweed sheets) There is a big difference between plain rice and rice prepared for sushi making. A very sharp knife is also essential.
I haven't made any yet but these sites both look great.

I've made sushi using whole grain brown rice with avocado and cucumber inside. I've also used fried bean curd and white rice with soy sauce to dip in. My absolute favorite filling is still avocado though, with plain cucumber and carrot ones a close second - I like a dab of wasabi sauce across the top too.
As for how to make it and tips? Here is a fantastic site, this is from the Post Punk Kitchen, an amazing vegan cooking show and recipe archive:

Pick up the phone and order it. :-P
Joking aside (although I do usually order it) I usually get avocado and/or cucumber rolls, or futomaki rolls minus egg. Extra gari (ginger) which I eat first and by itself, and extra wasabi. *drool*
Making it at home, I usually do avocado and cucumber. A few times when I was raw I made what I called my lazy man sushi. I tore up untoasted nori into a bowl, shredded cucumbers and avocado, and put bragg liquid aminos on it and sprinkled wasabi powder all over it.
i like just plain avocado sushi,.,,,,,I could eat that night and day and sometimes do.
mmmm
I am thinking about experimenting again, but everytime I do, I just wish I had made the avocado roll hehe
i am sorry but I really honestly and truly and from the bottom of my heart think i am the only person in the world who can't stand sushi. it makes me nauseous. the rice is disgusting, it is just disgusing all around. OMG!!!! i would not eat for a day rather than eat sushi, that is how much i hate it. i wish i liked it because everyone does and it makes me wonder what i am missing. it is disgusting.
