Do vegeterians get pale?!

Question: I'm 14 and became a vegeterian about two months ago. I've heard your skin gets paler, is it true? I've naturally got a medium- kind of tanned skin tone, (i'm getting a bit lighter though in the winter time). am i going to get pale?

It's not being a vegetarian necessarily but it is common in vegetarians because many vegetarians are low on iron. Iron is the is one of the hardest things to get when you're a vegetarian. Most people get their iron from meat. The iron in meat is very easily digestable. But fear not there are many ways to get iron. 1 you can suppliment. 2 you can eat lots of green leafy vegetables. Green leavy vegetables like spinach have lots of iron. But they have a different kind of iron than what's in meat. In order to process this kind of iron you need vitamin c. So make sure to eat your green leafy vegetables with broccoli or an orange or a tomato or something with vitamin and you'll be a-okay. also lack of iron will make you tired and sometime make you feel depressed so monitor your moods.

no, you skin pigment won't change unless you get sick....keep being healthy and keep you diet balanced and you will be fine.

I found that my skin got brighter....more healthy. :)

Good luck, veggies rule

yes only in the winter because u get more sun light in the summer!!!!!

I don't think what you eat affects your skin tone. There are lot's of vegetarians who are tan.

Mine got paler but that was only because i was always rouged before. I would blush all the time because I had high blood pressure and cholesterol, which is the reason I switched to being a mostly veg in the first place. Now I don't blush as often and I don't have a bright red face or as many skin problems. So my face got nice and pale, but my pigment colour didn't change. I don't think your skin will get lighter. Hope this answers your question.

No, a lot of people will tell you that excluding flesh from your diet will make you sick and therefore pale. This is not true, meat is not the aspect of your diet that will determine good health, nor is any other single aspect.

No you will be as you always are. More sun, tanner skin etc.
LOL, I wonder where all this "Old Wives Tales" come from?
Though with time if you are eatting right you will get nicer skin. Your Health will show in many ways your skin will be one of them.

The only veg*ans I know that are pale, where born that way or have been pale for a while before becoming veg. Your skin won't become pale, it's a silly myth.

The myth that vegetarianism makes you pale is utter crap.

And don't believe the iron myth either. I was anemic BEFORE I went veg.

Don't worry about it.

i have been a vegitaRIAN ever since i was born and i ain't lighter to tell u
