A vegetarian is someone that never eats animals.

Since snails are animals, a vegetarian wouldn't eat them

Everything that we eat contains protein. Keeping things varied causes our protein intake to have balanced amino acids.

They aren't veggies, that's self evident.

If it didn't come from a plant I don't eat it.

they are animals...they move, breath, reproduce...they are animals...if you want to be a true vegetarian you can't pick and chose animals because they aren't cute and cuddly..if that were the case you could eat all types of fish and crustaceans

Well, they are living creatures, so if you don't consume animals or animals products, I don't see why it would matter how nutritious they are.

Class: Gastropoda
Phylum: Mollusca
Kingdom: *Animalia*

So, no.

No!

if your a true vegan/vegetarian then you wouldnt put it in your diet, its a living creature. you can get your nutrients some other way.

thats even grosser i would def not eat snails i am vegitarian and take it seriously so no.

If you eat escargot you have no right calling yourself a vegetarian or a vegan.

They're still animals. I don't need to eat animals for my protein or other nutrients.

There are plenty of plant foods that are filled with protein and a tremendous amount of nutrients, such as tofu, flaxseeds oil/ground, green leafy vegetables, seaweeds (such as nori, spirulina, kelp), kale, quinoa, most fruits & vegetables. Maybe you should try and eat more plant source of nutrients and eliminate animal sources, see how much your health and sense of well being improves!

Dang...what makes some people forego tasty things and go straight for the slimy, wiggly things you see after a rainstorm? It's not like you're on a tropical island with nothing else to eat...

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR VEGANS!

Fortunately I am not a vegetarian so I would eat them. Vegetarians of course would not.
To Billy, You can find them at many larger grocery stores. Look by the canned Sardines. The meat is canned and they come with the shells packed seperately. Albertsons has them.

Snails are gastropods, gastropods are mollusks, mollusks are animals, I don't eat animals.

I would like to have some for dinner but they are not available in the U.S. or not my area anyway. Where are they available.
