10 points to who knows each type of vegetarian there is?!

Question: There are all sorts of titles out there (literally hundreds) that people are giving themselves as to what kind of vegetarian they are. As for a reasonable list, from least to most extreme, here ya go!

Flexitarians- (are considered a sect of vegetarianism in professional circles due to the fact that they make the choice to eat a vegetarian diet whenever that option presents itself. Anyone who tells you it isn't (like About a Girl) is ignorant.)

Lacto Ovo Vegetarians

Ovo Vegetarians

Lacto Vegetarians

Vegans- (From here down are the only true "vegetarian" diets due to the fact that absolutely no animal products are consumed)

Raw Food Vegans

Fruitarians

in addition to the answers above, there are also raw foodists.

Also fruitarians. They only eat stuff that falls off of trees and plants. They don't like to kill plants.

all of the above but dont forget pescatarian. :) vegetarians who eat fish.

I myself am a lacto-vegetarian.

Semi-Vegetarian: Will usually eat everything but red meat. Poultry is often excluded, but fish and dairy products are almost always included.

Lacto-ovo-vegetarian: Will eat all dairy products, including butter, cheese and eggs but no meat, poultry or fish.

Lacto-vegetarian: Will eat dairy products but no eggs, meat, poultry or fish.

Vegan: Eats only plant foods like cereals, grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Excludes all foods of animal origin, including foods that contain any ingredients derived from an animal.

Types of vegetarianism:

Lacto-ovo vegetarianism - a vegetarian who does not eat animal flesh of any kind and slaughter by-products, but does consume dairy and eggs.

Lacto vegetarianism - a vegetarian who does not eat animal flesh of any kind, slaughter by-products, dairy, or dairy by-products, but does consume eggs.

Ovo vegetarianism - a vegetarian who does not eat animal flesh of any kind, slaughter by-products, eggs, or egg by-products, but does consume dairy.

Strict vegetarianism - a vegetarian that does not consume animal products of any kind. Also known as a dietary vegan.

Veganism - a vegetarian that does not use or consume animal products of any kind. Veganism is a philosophy and lifestyle that seeks to exclude the use of animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose.

Other dietary practices commonly associated with vegetarianism:

Fruitarianism - a diet of only fruit, nuts, seeds, and other plant matter that can be gathered without harming the plant.

Raw veganism - a diet of fresh and uncooked fruit, nuts, seeds, and vegetables.

Freeganism - an anti-consumerism lifestyle whereby people employ alternative living strategies based on "limited participation in the conventional economy and minimal consumption of resources.

Mockery diets unrelated to actual vegetarianism: Semi-vegetarian, Pescetarian, Pollotarian, & Flexitarian. So if someone tells you this is a type of vegetarian (like Kevin C does) they are mistaken.

also pescotarians - vegetarians diet plus fish

I'm sure there's more but I can't think anymore.

I vote About a Girl gets the 10 points, on the proviso that she fixes the ovo and lacto descriptions around the right way. Other than that, her answer was perfect.

Edit: My post got reported earlier and, on appeal, was reinstated, as it wasn't in violation of any of the guidelines. I'd think twice about maliciously reporting anyone, if I were you.

lacto ovo, pasco lacto ovo, ovo, pasco, lacto, pasco lacto, pasco ovo, and vegan (pasco means they eat fish)

LACTO=DAIRY

OVO=EGGS

get it right
