How do you cook tofu? making it for the first time!?!
how long? I have extra firm tofu, low fat.
Thanks!
Answers: So yeah, I'm making tofu for the first time, I want to know how long you cook it for? and what flavors should I add? I am hearing that it is very versitile so I can probably add whatever flavors I like, but how do you cook it?

First, it's already cooked. You can eat it straight out of the package if you like. Otherwise, I just chuck it in whatever it is that I'm making. Extra firm, chop it into cubes and chuck it in... your spaghetti sauce, in with your stir fry... whatever. Just by itself? Stir fry with olive oil, garlic, then add some soy sauce.

Slice into slabs, brown in a non-stick pan until golden. Turn down the heat and add 1 or 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Cook until the soy sauce is absorbed. Eat it plain like this or glaze with apricot jelly (1/2 cup jelly cooked on med-high until it clings and coats the tofu). It can also be coated with BBQ sauce(grill it for more fun), thai peanut sauce or simmered in curry. I don't use tofu unless it's been pre cooked and salted with the soy sauce or else I find it to be too bland.
Technically, tofu is already cooked when it reaches you in the package, so you can just crumble it up raw and flavor it like egg salad and eat it like that. (find a recipe online for that, don't just wing it the first time or you will hate tofu forever)

i would cut it into large chunks so they can be skewered with med veg eg peppers courgettes and drizzle with a flavoured oil eg olive oil garlic chilli coriander and lime grill under a hot grill ps no matter what you do tofu is dire good luck
Here are some spice mixes that I like to flavour my tofu with.
Lemon juice and crushed caraway seeds.
Lime juice, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, oregano and chilli powder.
Hot chilli oil, peanut oil, soya sauce, honey, pressed ginger and pressed garlic.
I like tofu in pasta sauce.
you don't throw it away and go buy some meat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get a slab of Bacon and fry up the bacon then throw the tofu in the pan and fry it up so you get the taste of the bacon in the tofu. then throw the tofu away and eat the bacon best solution i have for that nasty stuff.
