Quorn? Mince especially, wondered what your take was on this?!
I do not use this for myself as a "substitute" to give the illusion" that its meat, i was never a big meat eater anyway, some dishes benefit from this texture, but i wondered what others view was on this product and is there anything i dont know about it that i should?
Thanks guys
Answers: I have recently been experimenting with this and I am extremely surprised and happy using this, my son is a die hard meat eater and wolfed down lasagne yesterday, unknown to him it was quorn. He loved it, He isnt against eating vegetarian dishes but usually its obvious,

Quorn mince is good - some quorn stuff I am not too keen on though - I dont like Linda Mcartneys veggie stuff at all. I understand from my daughter that Quorn do "chicken" pieces which are nice as well - you just have to add flavours.
Yeah, I use quorn mince too. If you use the right sauces etc with it it is a reasonable replacement. Easier to cook than the real thing was too!
after watching the programme "kill it cook it eat it" I went from a meat eater to a vegetarian. it was really starnge as Id allways allways been in favour of eating meat. but after the programme, I went out and bought myself all the quorn I could find. I first of all tried the burgers which wernt very nice... but I knew I had to make sacrifices if I was to stop eating met. Then I tried the cottage pie which I couldnt eat because I didnt like it so much.. all the other quorn dishes I have came accross I do not like one bit. I honestly do think they're revolting.
so now I have to eat vegetable dishes. but I found that when i was eating quorn as a substitute for my normal meal, I lost weight beause quorn is so low in fat. Quorn isnt for me, but if you like the taste of it. hey why not?
I love Quorn, and all the products it makes but there are some down points, one is that it is a bit expensive but there many other alternatives. There is a company called Cauldron who make burgers etc. for about the same price as everyday burgers also they come in different flavours, my favourite is the Mexican burger.
I eat a great deal of this, i like it there is so much i make out of it for my family, like shepherds pies, Cornish pasties, stir Fry's, it is so versatile and much better than killing a innocent creature from torment just to get the meat you want.
Well done Fi !!!
There you've just went and made me hungrey. lol
I've never tried it, I like the real deal........ sorry.
Quorn is lovely and I am vegetarian and I USED to eat it. That was before I found out that it was made as a meat substitute during the war (one of the world ones) and is made in a vat. It brings out allergic reactions in some people and others not, but you can eat loads of it before you get a allergy. But the thing that put me off is it is just made in a industrial vat. If though it is the only thing you like about vegetarianism then go for it. Better than eating meat.
