I think I'm going to hurl chunks! grossed out??Meat??!

Question: I am strongly thinking about discontinuing my consumption of red meat and pork. I am just so damn disgusted with the thought of what meat really is that I think I'm gonna quit eating it, except poultry. For some reason chicken doesn't repulse me. I watched this Peta video a couple of months ago and I didn't eat meat for about a week after it. I am NOT for Peta, I think they are a bunch of idiots. But this is what started it all for me...and I don't call it becoming Vegan b/c I will continue to eat chicken...but no eggs (ew! never like them). I will have dairy products..cheese, milk, etc..you don't kill the animal to get these products. And I don't want to do this b/c I feel sympathy for the animal..cause I don't...I just think the whole idea of meat is gross. Now with this new beef recall..I think that just broke the last straw! I am so grossed out! All day I have felt so sick at my stomach thinking about it. Do any of you follow a diet like this? What do you think of this?

I think meat is disgusting, too. A friend of mine was a "vegetarian" for a few years, except she would eat fish. Now, she eats meat again, the leanest beef you can buy, but usually ground turkey, turkey bacon, chicken, etc. I don't so much mind eating meat, as much as I mind preparing it. I HATE handling meat of any kind, and it usually ruins the meal for me.

You can research the different types of vegetarians, and choose which may best suit you. However, I do not know of any "vegetarian" that eats poultry. Also, based on the video you saw, my opinion is that the chicken and turkey was the nastiest animals to eat.

If I were you, I would just eat very lean cuts of meat, and substitute with ground turkey and turkey bacon. That is what I have done since I became repulsed by meat, and it works great for me. I don't really prepare much chicken anymore, because I think it's just filthy and disgusting.

I also don't eat any red meat, and I don't find it hard to get enough protein. Just make sure you eat beans and other protein rich foods.

May as well quit eating chicken, too. Just go vegan. That'll show those slaughterhouses who's in charge!

Why are you still going to eat chickens? They're animals as well and deserve life just like the pigs and cows. They feel pain and are murdered just the same.

Also, animals are exploited, even when they're not primarily killed for food.

Dairy cows have to have a calf roughly each year to be milked. The calves are killed straight away or sold as veal. Dairy cows typically produce 10x as much milk as they would naturally and work the equivalent of running a marathon each year. They can hardly walk and are exhausted by 4 years of age (they can live up to around 25) at which point they are killed. They are raped to have calves, the equipment used is referred to as the "rape-rack" by exploiters themselves.

Chickens are exploited for eggs, even in 'free-range' and 'organic' systems - even 'free-range' hens are packed into a dark barn, there are a few small exits but hardly any of them ever see the light of day. Even more shocking, since very, very few males are needed to breed, the vast, vast majority of male chicks are killed after just 1 day of life (that is when they can be sexed)

Bees are also victims of exploitation. Many are crushed during the 'harvesting' of their honey, they are basically gassed to subdue them, their wings are clipped so they cannot swarm (a natural behaviour), the queens are systematically killed after each year and are fertilized with 'stuff' from beheaded males.

So actually, they are killed. In fact, they're raped, kidnapped, abused and killed.

A general rule is that where people are making money out of animals, they will be treated horribly.

sure dairy products dont Kill the animals but dairy products is still animal abuse if you knew how bad the dairy cows were treated .Go to chooseveg.com and watch the research videos there that will change your mind on the chicken thing, trust me.

wow, you are 32??? From your manner of writing/speaking and all that, I thought you are only 12!!

God put animals on this earth for consumption and working purposes. For every steak you do not eat, I will eat three!!! :D

I love chicken and I love seafood and I will never give either up. As far as red meat, I think you're buying into a whole propaganda and hysteria. Yes, the current recall is awful but it had nothing to do with what is in meat and everything to do with the slaughter house breaking Federal laws.
If you don't want to eat meat, than don't.
I cut way back because I find it hard to digest. But I don't get on here and rant about it.
To each his own.
Uh and you do know they KILL the chicken right? You quote that you'll continue to eat cheese, milk, eggs because they don't kill the animal...so that seems hypocritical.
By the way, the veggies on here will tell you that keeping an animal as a slave so one can get those milk, eggs and cheese is just as bad.

ADDITIONAL
Oh my gosh! You're 32?? Geez, seriously I thought from your writing you were no more than 16. Seriously! And you are ranting with all your "grossed out" and "last straw!" and "ew!"
And again "nasty cow". I just can't get over that you're 32.
You are kidding, right?
