Poor animals?!

Question: Hello all.I eat meat.Yes sure do eat meat but why do people kill the cows and stuff so badly.I mean what in the ****? I'm really thinking about stopping on eating meat cause of a lot of reasons.People say animals don't have feelings like we do.But what makes us so special? I'm sure pigs and cows think the same about us.LOL

Anyways my biggest question is.I'm not a godly person but in the bible is states 'thou shall not kill' It never said what not to kill.So therefor if you think about it.Animals fit there also? :| Thanks

read genesis 1:29

God said, "I have given you every plant with seeds on the face of the earth and every tree that has fruit with seeds. This will be your food.

i have never eaten meat in my life and I AM very healthy. In fact I am training for my forth marathon this spring.

it said we can kill to eat , to preserve our species but as you think I stop eating meat while ago..and I feel fine :)

If you are a Christian, "god" says you are allowed to eat meat ( after the flood vegetation was scarce so he said it would be "OK" for you to eat meat.) Please don't eat meat, drink milk or eat eggs.

For motivation: www.meat.org
For help: www.goveg.com

yes! stop eating meat. you'll really like it. i just stopped about a week ago and its wonderful :) animals definitely have feelings. need some proof? go to peta.org or peta2.com & they have plenty of videos and blogs about animal abuse.

I heard all about the mutilated cows in a meat company. And have u heard what some butchers do to get the feathers off of a LIVE chicken! It's sooo sad, but the meat is sooo good. I wish they weren't slaughtered by some gore-addicts, THEY should be imprisoned!!!!!!

i like tofu

I'm aethestic so the Bible doesn't really affect me.
But anyways, in a sense, i GUESS animals fit in that. Can't say for sure since I'm not Christian and stuff.

And, my advice is, stop eating meat. Its good if you don't eat meat. And BS those people. Animals DO have feelings. If you're a dog lover, I'm quiet sure you have heard dogs cry. Crying equals a feeling! (This can also be applied to cat lovers too).
And lol, we AREN'T special. We're just a stupid species that will eventually kill the Earth and everything around it.

But yeah, just don't eat meat. Its not worth killing an innocent animal.

PS- I really care less if my spelling is horrible.

the real reason why i became a vegetarian wasn't because i thought it as wrong to eat meat but it was because of the way we torcher the animals that we eat. animals are confided to small spaces, their diets usually are poor & filled with additives, they are electrocuted through their anuses sometimes as much as three times & that usually wont even kill them completely so they'll be skinned alive. & all that is really just the tip of the ice berg. i'd suggust going on peta2.com to look up videos if you haven't already.

ok for your question the bible states that "thou shall not kill" but then there is a passage that says hear you can eat this meat that you have with you to survive to Noah on the arc .
BUT he only said this to him when he was on the boat & didn't have anything else to eat. So in my opinion i think that he only said that because there was no other choice, but obviously since we have many choices today meat should not be one of them(in accordance with the bible anyways)

also it says if u abuse any creature that God has created in an unloving way thats it's equal to murder!!

oh & about the animals don't have feelings like us thats complete bull**** because how do we know they don't does a dog or another animal not get scared and cower when you just hit it. animals can feel pain just like people can. & pigs are actually as smart as a 3 year old kid.

There are better reasons to become vegetarian or vegan than biblical ones. Check out http://www.goveg.com/theissues.asp . But if religion is what motivates you to become veg then go for it, the point is you doing good.

Good luck... I hope you make the right choice.

I eat fish, eggs and milk but that i sit basically.

I had to stop eating red meat for health reasons and I don't miss it at all, especially after seeing those poor cows abused. I will say this about the bible, the torah (first five books of the bible) is also used in Judaism and Islam and there were special laws for the way they killed animals and they are still respected by many people till this day. I think everyone should stop eating meat for some time to get the point across that animals should be treated humanely. I grew up in the country and I've seen the way cows should be treated, they are nice creatures and shame on those people for abusing them.

If you have ever had pets you would know that animals do have feelings, cows included:) It is shocking to find out about what is happening to them to get meat, I don't know if I will ever get over finding out about it all and it has been a couple of years.
A lot of people say that the "thou shall not kill" only implies to humans. Maybe that is true, maybe not. There are a lot of verses in the bible that prove that animals have souls and go to heaven. http://www.ourchurch.com/member/w/w_lasa... - that website gives all of that proof. No matter what "thou shall not kill" really means, if there is a God I highly doubt he is very happy with what humans are doing to his animals. I think that killing animals for food when it was needed was fine, but these days most people do it just to satisfy their craving for meat. And the way they are doing it is atrocious, and anyone with an ounce of compassion can see that.
Not eating meat is quite easy, especially after seeing what is happening to the animals. Good luck, hope I helped:)

the torah, the source for our old testament, and the origin of the ten comandments says thou shalt not do murder...there is the difference.self defence is not murder, killing animals for food is not murder.
as for inhumane practices, i abhor them, and wish that more people would butcher their own meat as i do so that they can understand the nature of the process. i take responsibility for my meat consumption and accept the reality that i am feeding on the death of a living creature... but plants are also living creatures are they not?

thou shalt not kill refers to another human because back in biblical days god called for animal sacrifices...jesus killed and ate fish, too

if you want to get technical the bible does have a list of animals fit for us to eat....ones that chew the cud and have split hooves are clean for us to eat, so don't bring the bible into this if you are unsure what the bible actually says

There are aberrations in everything. I still don't feel sorry for my food. As for the Atheist... You should really learn to spell it if you are going to convince anyone.

Edit:

Your kind usually doesn't :).

have a day.

Picking through your post to find a question I went with this one:

But what makes us so special?

We aren't special beyond the fact that we are the most intelligent creature on the planet. One might think that the intelligence would move us as a whole beyond religious fantasy but apparently not.

"Thou shalt not kill". If you apply this beyond human on human murder into other realms, such as the other animals, you'd have to apply it to plant life as well. A strong argument that it was meant to chastise human on human killing only.
