Meat can cause colon cancer? Driving a car can cause an accident. Playing too much tennis can cause tennis elbow.

And why do people say that being a vegetarian is better for the environment? Thats BS.

I gave up red meat when I learned that it can lead to colon cancer, and many people in my family have had colon cancer.

I gave up fish and chicken when I read more about the inefficiency of eating animal products and I was starting think more about that dead animal on my plate and it began to disgust me.

I gave up eggs and dairy after I read "Diet for a New America" by John Robbins. It's a great book which highlights many reasons to stop eating animal products. See: http://www.foodrevolution.org/dna_endors...

Because I didnt want to eat a animal carcass.Veganism is better for the environment, for our health, and for the world (even einstein said so).The animals are abused beyond your imagination, its a very cruel industry and its not necessary.

I don't like the idea of eating animals. I know if I had to hunt them myself, I could never do it. However, since animal cruelty is my issue - I really should be a vegan because it's all tied in together (for example, the dairy cows are eventually slaughtered once they don't produce enough milk).

Good question! Basically, I saw this video: http://www.chooseveg.com/animal-cruelty.... and decided that I didn't want to support cruelty to animals every time I sat down for a meal. I've always had pets and volunteered at animal shelters... it seemed hypocritical to call myself an "animal lover" while contributing to so much animal suffering by eating meat.

because most people arent selflish and they see past their selfs and become veg.s for animals and the enviorment. and for the starving people across the world. hope that pretty much clears it up

if i no animal or i eat 1000 animals i will die. so I would rather die of a good clean soul and body. My body is grave yard!

i first wanted to try it for a week. just for fun to see how it feels to be a vegitarian. im a huge red meat fan. i was so surprised that i went without a week of meat. and so i decided to continue it. i realized your body doesnt need meat. alot of people say that humans are supposed to eat meat. wour body can function without it. meat takes 3 days to digest and can give you colon cancer, and has tons of fats and calories unless your eating white meat. i dont know and then my body started to get used to i. and i havent craved meat since 5 months ago. and im so proud i came this far

I became vegetarian because of what info i learned about the animals being tortured in slaughter houses. Why killing animals is legal and allowed is yet a mystery to me.... I actually learned about this info from a person handing out pamphlets outside a convention center. In turn, i asked the person for a bundle of pamphlets to pass out in my school. I even remember the person having a "vegan" motor cycle with logos saying "Don't eat meat" "be vegan" ect.
But in turn, i actually made a person vegetarian by passing out the pamphlets at school.

So to the person that was outside that convention center a year ago, Thanks man!

i went veg just because its healthy. i don't think i'll ever eat meat again though. it's pretty gross. being vegetarian is so amazing :) & its only been a week for me!

Meat=animal cruelty ,simple as that + being a vegan/vegetarian is way healthier than being a carnivore.

Its a healthy diet and you get to save animals in the process which is good.

When I was little, my grandparents had a hobby farm, and on their farm they had what I thought at the time were pet chickens used just for eggs. I named them all and fed them every day... and then found out we were eating them for dinner! (Whenever I noticed one was missing, my grandpa would say it "flew the coup.") When I realized I was eating my "pets" I couldn't eat meat anymore.

But in the 20 years since then, I've stayed vegetarian for other reasons. Morals, health, environment, etc. Watch the "Meet your Meat" videos on www.goveg.com - you'll never want to eat meat again after you see those. I bawled the first time I watched some of those videos.

People become vegetarians because some people love animals so much that they over react about them. For example some kids like chickens and love them very much but if they love them so much and they see them die and next thing you know its on the table and everyone is eating it. Mostly that is why people become vegetarians.
