Want to be a Lacto-ovo Vegetarian.Tips?!

Question: I'm 14 and already a pescotarian. And not very strict at all. I eat mcdonalds fries, gelatin and other non-vegetarian things. My parents do not like that I'm a pescoterian which I know is not true. I've have some problems because they like steak houses, patio and other stuff that only has meat and seafood.
What do you guys usually do when you go out to eat at basically an all meat place? do you get a salad or just not eat anything? Can you guys give me some tips on what to do?

I'm also 14, and i'm a lacto-ovo vegeterian, so i'll try give you some tips. yeeaaa eating out is HARD sometimes, but I always end up finding something, alot of the time they will have a vege-burger on the menu, but if they don't i'll have pasta, or a salad and ask them to do it without chicken, for things like pasta, salads etc, it's easy to just ask them to take out the meat, i do it all the time :). If your going to a steakhouse or something it might be a bit harder. I haven't been to one yet (since becoming vegeterian) but if your having trouble i suggest sticking to the soup, salad, and bread they might have as appatizers or sides.

don't worry, your really not doing that badly! Most vegeterians still eat mcdonalds fries if they want to. Theres that theory that they've got like animal fat or something? it may or may not be true, but i wouldn't worry about it too much, you c
an still eat them! and if your a lacto-ovo vegeterian your supposedly still 'allowed' to eat gelatin, its mainly vegans that don't eat gelatine. I eat gelatine, because it's in quite a few foods and also in the iron suppliments i take (might want to get a few of those if your going vege, cus otherwise you can go pale and feel weak, and maybe even become anemic).

hope this answered your question! good luck :):)

i'm vegan, i usually have something to eat before I go out so i'm not starving when i get there. there is usually a vegetarian option like salad, fruit, pasta, cheese. try to check out the menue on line or give them a call before hand so you know what your going to order. its really easy if you just plan a little ahead. good luck. I hope you can make that extra step and become veg.

youre not a vegeterian if youre eating fries and gelotin. REAL vegeterians dont eat FLESH. Fries are cooked with lard and beef so EWW to that. My tips is to def find a new diet plan if you wanna call your self a vegeterian.

Get your messed up facts right animallover, fries aren't cooked with lard.

I am a former chef (20+ yr of International experience, and I ate it all) and have been a Lacto-Ovo vegetarian for the last 6 years, it is easy for people to preach to you, I am not one of them, it is those Veggie Facists that command the rules, at 14 your still growing and as a young person it is better to eat a balanced diet, I eat the usual things I will eat dairy cheese and soya one, I love all kinds of soya, seitan, qouran, pressed tofu, TVP and fresh tofu product, I use these as my main source of protein, I have always been a big veggie eater, even as a child.

I do limit my egg consumption to no more than 6 a month I have cholesterol issues, but use Egg beaters and egg replacement powders in smoothies and in cooking. In a family were your in the minority, I would try to eat around the food your family cooks, and ween yourself off the McDonalds and gelatin based foods, eat more fresh fruit, I bet your mother will buy that without a fuss, salads with cheese, all the veg they make just not with an animal fat on it. It is not like your doing something illegal, it is just hard for a parents to accept there child is different, but this is not a crime to be a lacto-ovo vegetarian, it just takes time for some peole to come around to it, just make sure to eat enough to maintain your energy levels and not get into a dieting issue.

Well i would call up places that your family wants to go out and see if the have any vegetarian options or just tell them your vegetarian(plus tell your parents its better than being vegan!)when you go and ask them what they have for vegetarians. They have plenty of stuff for vegetarians if you ask. If i had to go to a place that had no vegetarian options i would just ask for a salad without the meat.

At restaurants I get pasta, salad, mozza sticks...

I'm lacto-vegetarian.
