Any soy cheese available that is worth a damn?!

Question: I have tried a few and they all taste like crap. Suggestions?

Try Follow Your Heart- you can find it at most Whole Foods stores. It's really good in sandwiches and such, just don't make quesadillas with it!

lol depends what "a damn" is. :)

I have tried a couple, but more aren't worth it. There is a vegan feta I like on Pizza and I have tried one of two that says on the package "IT MELTS" lol and didn't mind those...my guy likes the toffutti cheese slices on veggie burgers...and I use the fake cream cheese to make cheese sauce sometimes...but for the most part, they taste like crap.

I have lost the taste for cheese thankfully, because I would be in hell right now lol

:)

NO most non-dairy cheese is not very good. Try Almond Cheese. Sorry I can not find the brand name but they family is using it & liking it pretty well. I personal prefer it melted to straight out of the packages.

well a lot of soy cheese is not vegan...
yeah there is no dairy and lactose in it but there is another product that i forgot the name of and it is made of some sort of animal product but they put it in the soy cheese because it helps it melt and if they didn't put it in there it wouldn't melt right
it really sucks but i have no clue where to find completely vegan cheese that tastes good

sorry i know this doesn't really answer you're question but i thought i should warn you...

if you want to know the name of the animal product you can email me later or something when i can get to a source that has the name of it...

You aren't going to find something that is really like cheese. After being vegan for over a year now it is something that I have accepted. My husband likes sheese which comes from Scotland and you can get at several online stores. I haven't tried it enough to have a real opinion yet.
I did find a recipe to make a cashew nut cheese that is pretty good. I make mac and cheese with it but it will firm up and you can grated it (although I haven't tried that yet). My mom who eats cheese liked it a lot (that was a surprise she doesn't normally like vegan mac and cheese). The only thing is the ingredients are expense (mainly the agar flakes). I found it on a food blog that I really like (the recipes on the blog aren't 100% vegan but it is worth checking out):

Toffuti! It's great. and vegan. no casienate in it (made from milk) and they even have a tofutti frozen pizza that you would have NO idea it's vegan.

Lauren- the ingredient is called casein. It's used to make soy cheese melt better, but as a convenient side effect, it also acts similar to an opiate.

I love sheese. It's pretty expensive but the flavour is strong, really great on crackers or in salad or whatever.
Tofutti slices are perfect for grilled cheese sandwiches; it tastes just like what it tries to copy.
I hate vegan rella, though. It makes my apartment smell terrible for weeks.
Haven't tried any other kinds of soy cheese. I don't really have much of a desire to, really. After a while cheese becomes less of a need, and the fake stuff is really only a novelty.
