Vegans and Alcohol ... If your a vegan, do you drink any alcohol? Do you eat yogurt?!
Answers: I'm a vegetarian for 10 years, but not a vegan because I cant give up things like cheese and milk chocolate and yogurt and booze. You vegans, do you drink? If not do you have an alternative?
Why would YOU even ask such a question ????? It's not like your EVER going to give up alcohol....In fact , you'd crawl over a bushel of burning kittens to reach a bottle of whiskey...so that being said...have a nice rare steak and grab yourself a nice big boobed blonde FEMALE...and get right with jesus already.....HEHEHEHEHE.....HAHAHAHA...
Yep I'm a vegan for ethics not for health so I still drink alcohol but I stay away from the companies that I know use isinglass in their clarifying process.
Of course, as long as it hasn't got gelatin, isinglass or egg white in.
Yes you can give those things up, animal's lives are more important than your taste buds! Make the positive change!
yes.. alcohol doesnt come from animal byproducts
I dont drink, but not because Im vegan because its bad for my health in particular with my medical history. Also I eat soy yogurt which I love.
I am a vegan because of serious food allergies, most major one being dairy.
Vegans can drink alcohol, of course.
Some alcohol has dairy in it - think cream liquors like Bailey's Irish Creme (which I miss! - but found a vegan recipe for, yay).
Also, some vegans take concern with the fact that alcohol can be clarified with isinglass or egg, both or which are animal ingredients and therefore technically non-vegan.
Personally, I drink alcohol, sure, but not on a day to day basis, LOL. I can have a few drinks with my husband when we hang out, or I can celebrate St. Patrick's Day or New Year's. Otherwise I don't feel a need to use alcohol as a means to "loosen" up or otherwise pass time, deal with issues or just enjoy myself at a party. I can do all that and more without "liquid confidence".
I do choose vegan-friendly alcohols (I just remember vegan-friendly brands off the top of my head), but if I'm at a party and there's no way to be sure if my wine's been "clarified" with isinglass, I'll drink it as opposed to being obnoxious and having to chase down the hostess and have her dig up the bottle, and then hit a laptop and check online... that's kind of going too far.
Yogurt - no, I don't eat it, but there are 100% vegan soy yogurts that taste quite like the real thing. The company I'd recommend is Silk, their yogurts are great.
There's also vegan dark chocolate, in fact the finest dark chocolate shouldn't have dairy in it, dairy is a cheap filler ingredient that lower end chocolateirs use in their dark chocolate in my opinion. Companies like Hershey's still add dairy to their dark chocolate, but companies like Ghirardelli's typically don't have dairy in theirs.
Cheese can also be found in the vegan variety, made of stuff like almonds or soy products. It can even melt. I have personally not enjoyed the vegan cheese stuff and just make do without cheese - but if you want some vegan cheese-subs, the best would have to be Tofutti's cream cheese substitute and home-made ricotta substitute made out of silken tofu.
Yes, vegans can drink alcohol; you have to make sure that wines and beers haven't been fined using animal products, but as you can see from this link, that leaves you a huge choice

I'm vegan and I love red wine - I'm drinking it now.
Yogurt - well you can get soy yogurts; I think they're just as good, but then I haven't tasted yogurt for years. Try Alpro - both plain and flavoured.
Most vegan chocolates are dark, but there are one or two that tastes like milk chocolate; if I can find links, I'll post them.
yes, i love my vegan organic red wine! i love it
I eat soy yogurt.
I also love almond milk, so yummy!
If you are vegetarian , this itself is best . You need not be vegan .
Alcohol is an urge of the human body and one take only to satisfy the need . Vegetarian not necessarily to be vegan . You are best in your efforts .
Why can't vegans drink alcohol?? I know some aren't vegan, just check with the manufacturer. Try going to http://www.veggiewines.co.uk they have all types of alcohol.
Vegans shouldn't eat yogurt or alcohol! Yogurt is not only from cows, but both alcohol and yogurt contain cultures of live bacteria! Just becasue they're one-celled animals doesn't mean they can be eaten willy-nilly! The horror of it all!
I want a good piece of steak right now!
A beer and juicy med-rare burger would go well right about now. I doubt most of the proclaimed vegans around here are nearly as strict in their homes as they are in their self-righteous proclamations.
