Answers: just became vegan last week. and yes i know it means no animal products what so ever.

Yes, I think it will make a world of difference. I was gaining wait fast, so I just started eating natural/ raw and noticed not only a difference in my weight, but also in my energy level and my skin. Just go day by day, focusing on the day and what you eat and soon you will be amazed!!! :)

Don't forget to exercise!!

While that will eliminate animal fats, there's still a whole world full of fattening foods out there - not to mention plain old overeating.

just be areful to not overeat and check with the doctor to see if you should take some type of suppliments

It always comes down to calories in/calories out and when you are eating during the day.

In general going Vegan will help you lose weight. But of course that reason alone is not a reason to go vegan as I am sure you know.

Being Vegan isn't necessarily unhealthy, but I would research nutrition to ensure that you find proper alternatives to nutritional requirements in vegan friendly foods. Being so restrictive without proper planning will cause deficiencies in the future.

Good Luck with the lifestyle change and weight loss!

It will if you burn more calories than you eat. Exercise is key.

I don't recommend veganism merely for losing weight. You need to make sure that you are still getting the nutrients and vitamins that you need to be healthy. People sometimes confuse veganism with an unhealthy diet. There is no reason you can't be healthy and vegan at the same time. Do your research, and talk to a nutritionist if possible.

That being said, veganism will most likely help you lose weight. A lot of weight gain that is not related to genetics or over-eating is due to the chemicals and hormones that react with your body in a negative way.

I recommend the book "skinny *****" to help you with your diet. It has a ton of reasons why veganism is so good, as well as why chemicals and hormones affect a person negatively. They also have a cook book with a ton of yummy recipes.

Good luck. :)

It may or it may not. Weight loss is a function of consuming fewer calories than you burn. If you're doing that, you'll lose weight.

I have been vegan just over 5 months now and I haven't gained or lost an ounce. I eat the same number of calories, give or take, they're just made up of different foods.

No not necessarily. I think a lot of people have been deceived by the book Skinny ***** into thinking that veganism is a weight loss regime. Anyone following the authors' advice will probably find themselves eating far more processed food than they did before in the form of fake meats and cheeses etc

Veganism isn't a weight loss regime. In 12 years I have both lost and put on weight at different times as a vegan, and when I lost it intentionally I did so by following the same old rules that apply to vegetarians and meat-eaters too - ate healthily and most importantly increased my exercise level
