How do I NOT become a vegetarian?!

Question: I am 22. Since I was ten the only meat I ate was chicken. No fish, no red meat, not even turkey. Exclusively chicken. So now I am bored and I decided i want to expand my diet to include fish, nothing fancy just plain white fish. So, what type of fish do you think would be good for "starters" and what should I expect from the taste?

- I was thinking of trying sea bass, my mom says it's white and flaky and mild.

if anything, eat fish that is cooked RIGHT! any type of fish is good, i like salmon and mahimahi, sometimes tuna, but as i have gotten to a point where i AM becoming a vegaterian i would have to say as a former fish lover, cook it right or don't eat it, fish can be cooked many ways but it needs some moisture and spice, a merinade is always a plus, and there is a reason fish frys are popular, aside from lent, salmon fried with onion garlic and squash was my favorite way.

so basically try to cook it like you want to eat it, it can be good, but it can be horrid even if it was the best piece of fish at the store.

this was kind of an odd question for me to awnser, seeing how i used to love fish and am now giving it up, so basicly i am imparting fish knowedge before i forget it for good.

oh by the way, ignore all the negative posts about this being a bad question in the wrong section, i know a lot of vegaterian esqe people that eat fish it is a Semi-vegaterian diet, as is the kind that only eat chicken. but most people don't accept this as a vegaterian life style, which it really isn't, but neither is eating eggs really as it is an animal biproduct. it just gives people a higher sence of self to say "I don't eat meat and if you eat any you are less then me." as some people say "morality is sexy."

you are welcome. Report It

  • Why are you asking this here? You're not a veggie and your question is not about vegetarians?

    We don't eat fish

How about salmon? It's relatively easy to make. I usually marinate mine in orange and pineapple juice & then broil it. But there are tons of different ways to make it.
Tuna steak is also very good and not too fishy.

why would you ask vegetarians what type of fish to eat? vegetarians don't typically eat fish.

btw, i used to eat meat and i eat a TON more differnt types of foods being a vegetarian. i never get bored anymore.

If you don't want to be vegetarian, then post in another section...

try cod.its thick and meaty and does not have a fishy taste, Talapia is also very good

    just keep on eating chicken.

    =]
im like you I only eat chicken

Vegetarians and vegans don't eat fish, so you might want to post this in a different section of Yahoo Answers.

You do know you can change where your question goes.. your not going to get the answers you really "want" in this section.. sorry.. i don't eat anything that used to have a heartbeat..

salmon fish is the best but a bit expensive

Tilapia is a very mild fish too, a lot of people who don't like fish will still eat tilapia. It kind of tastes like chicken. Add lemon juice and it is ah-mazing :)

Apparently you have posted your question on hallowed ground....
Talapia ,flounder, bass are all mild fish.and a good place to start.Butter and lemon go great with any of them....baked for about 20 mins at 350

Don't eat it =[ Fishes like to swim in the sea. You should rather be saying "I only eat chicken. How do I stop eating chicken?", rather than "I only eat chicken. How do I start eating more meat?". Look in your local pond at the pretty things swimming around. Would you stick a hook through its little mouth hit it on the head, then cook it for tea? =[ I don't think so. So why would you buy it in a shop after it got taken from its home where it had the right to live, then it got crushed at the bottom of a massive net and suffocated in the air, then if it didn't die from all of that torture, it got hit on the head =[ All for your eating pleasure.... Sound tasty to you? =[ Please think about it some more before you decide to start eating the poor fish. There are plenty of alternatives - really! =[

tuna, salmon are very very good try them

haddock ia really good, it was some of the first fish i tried and liked

this is a v &v section, you should become a vegan.

If you are bored the best thing to do is just to try new things. You are overthinking it.

It is possible to choose where your question is posted and seeing as you aren't even a vegetarian now, your question has no business on this board.

Why would you post that to vegetarians?
Do you think vegetarians are all in line to eat fish?
Sometimes people really need to think.

It automatically groups your question, then you change it using your hands and mouse-not hard.
I wouldnt post about killing mice in the pet section-have respect.

In all seriousness- if you want to eat other meats consult a dietician or doctor first. People who've never tried certain meats can get very ill by doing so! If you try red meat, you could even die..That's not a joke..it happens to people who aren't used to the bacteria and chemicles meat comes with. I'm not sure how much you have to worry since you ate chicken, but I'd still call and ask.

You should try salmon with a squirt of fresh lemon on it with white rice or a plain old tuna fish sandwich.

Just eat meat its that simple. That is interesting how the computer put in this section though. You should try it just to make sure you like eating fish(by the way just eating chicken you were not vegetarian its semi-vegetarian)

"I am 22. Since I was ten the only meat I ate was chicken. No fish, no red meat, not even turkey. Exclusively chicken."

You were never a vegetarian, so your quandary is solved.
