Jello is made of WHAT????!
Answers: hooves? Is this true, and how and why?? thanks
omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#######...
Fish bones.
it is boiled from hooves and bones because gelatine comes from hooves and bones and jello is a brand name of flavoured gelatine
Gelatin comes from gristle, hooves, horns, hide. etc.
it is made from collagen extracted from bones, intestines of some cattle and organs. That's why vegetarians dont eat gummi bears and such.
yah its also made of dear skin..so are marshmallows
Most Jello is made with geletine as the setting agent.
But you can get vegetarian versions made with pectin or agar.
You just need to hunt them out - "Greens" make a veggie version and is often in the Supermarket next to the meaty ones.
Yeah, that's true. And apparently ice-cream contains dainty animal feet too! How's that for gro-oss!
It is taken from bones and around the bones where the collagen is located like if you have ever roasted pork or anything else for a long time and an ooze comes from around it, that is one example of a gelatin, and hooves and things like that. It is short for gelatin just like glue was and still sometimes is made from boiled horse hooves. So basically true, and it was taken from old recipes when you didn't have a lot of things so that's one of the things that has to be understood sometimes. The company just didn't change it or just really didn't care to.
There are some vegetarian alternatives. Hain's makes a vegetarian "jello" that you make with water.
Dole fruit gels and Kool Aid Gels are both vegetarian (made with carageenan which is like seaweed.) When I need a jello fix, that's what I choose!
And yes, marshmallows do contain gelatin, however the marshmallow topping at Dairy Queen is vegetarian (made with corn syrup--not healthy, but vegetarian!)
Gelatine and water.
Rendered hooves, bones and connective tissue. How? I don't care to know the specifics of the rendering process, but it involves taking all the unused bits of slaughtered animals and separating them into their component solids and liquids. Why? Because it's cheap and it works and most consumers don't complain about it. Rendered animal stuff is not just in jello and foods made with gelatin, it's in cosmetics, toiletries and household items. Pretty gross.
Yes, its true, but its so good. My favorite is cherry.
Bone marrow.
It comes from cartilage and skin actually boiled up into a jelly. Gross huh?
I remember being told it was made out of something in the kidneys. That and fat i guess...
