Why do you people not eat meat? think of the wasted animals..?!

Question: lets face it, some vegetarians and vegans here think eating meat is bad for everyone.
yes, it does have its disadvantages but telling someone that dairy is going to kill you is a bit far, and telling someone drinking 3 glasses of milk a day, SKIM milk even, is going to make you obese and get health problems.
people who do drink dairy tend to be skinnier than those who do not, and there clearly is a market for milk and other dairy products.
why don't you drink it? or eat meat for that matter?
think of all those animals slaughtered - why don't you eat it?? because pounds of meat are being wasted by spoiling with not enough consumers.
so, the cow or other animal was killed for no reason
am i right to think this is partly vegans/vegetarians fault?

if nature didn't intend for us to eat animals, it wouldn't have made them out of meat!!

Because, of course, the animal has no right to its own life, or any purpose other than what we want to use it for...

I think we should kill and eat you, after all, you're just going to waste.

I feed my vegetables to the cow. Since the cow is what it eats, the cow is a vegetable too. So I can eat the cow and be a vegetarian. It's pretty cool when you understand logic.

What if you had to slaughter the cow?

I don't answer questions that refer to me as "you people". You sound judgmental and like you won't care what I have to say anyhow. Keep hating us vegetarians if that makes you feel better. Blaming us for wasting meat....now I've heard everything.

I hope someone with more patience than me can explain to her why vegetarianism is one of the answers to world hunger problems....compare # of people fed per acre of land used to raise cattle vs. # of people fed per acre to raise vegetables and fruit. I would look up the sources if I thought she would read them.

eat all the wasted apples on the ground. your being a butt

la la land awaits you, wow what a diatribe , get me a jumbo jack hamburger quick

we live in a market economy. unless i'm mistaken, meat is not an exception to this rule. if fewer people eat meat, less meat is produced and processed. i could be wrong.

the milk business is silly. different people have different theories about health but i'm sure most vegetarians don't think skim milk makes you fat. at least i don't.

as for why i don't eat meat...i don't need to. i don't look down on those who do but i feel better when i know i'm not eating something that had to give up its life for me, when i am perfectly capable of living a life without meat. it's all good karma.

why do you say "you people" as if vegetarians are a race or religion or something? if more and more people stop eating meat and by-products, the demand for them will decrease, therefore forcing the companies to lower the slaughter rate, and hopefully it will eventually stop. it's us vegetarians who will be laughing when you get cancer, type 2 diabetes, or have heart trouble. like that other chick said, aren't YOU going to waste?

To start this one out I was a vegetarian for 11 years. I started eating chicken and turkey about a year ago because I got arthritis in my hands. I just wanted to say that does it really matter if people eat meat or not. We are all human ,people will look differently at people who are different then them.... whether it is in appearance or in culture or in their morals.

AND HONEY BELIEVE YOU ME THE ANIMALS ARE NOT GOING TO WASTE. THEY WILL STILL SELL EVEN IF THE VEGANS OPT OUT OF BUYING.

Everyone has their own reasons to not eat meat...mine is simply because I love animals.

I see a pig as equal to my dog, a chicken equal to my cat, etc. I think if I wouldn't eat my pets, then why would I eat animals that are sometimes other people's pets.

Besides, to me, eating something that was once living is disgusting.

And, I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, so I still use dairy...but I use organic and soymilk, and free range eggs. =D

EDIT: For example, my Aunt has a ranch, where she is the owner of one pig. The pig is so sweet and acts like a dog...I couldn't imagine eating her (Miranda)...so there for, I don't eat any animals. =]

The people I know don't eat meat because the cruelty in which some animals are killed. I was shown a video of animals being tortured for fun. These are places that provide our meat.

You are obviously closed and narrow minded, so why should you care? There is a "market" for drugs, alcohol and cigarettes, too, but that doesn't mean its right or healthy. I could care less if you choose to clog your body with dead animals, and serve as a graveyard for decaying animal flesh. But, you have no right to spout off about something you clearly know nothing about. Your argument that the animal is already dead is very narrow minded indeed. Eat what you want-but leave others alone for their choices. If you ever decided to seriously consider going vegetarian, you would do the homework and realize how many ignorant opinions there are on the matter.

first off, milk has pus in it and thats a fact!So drink up! As for the meat,if there wasnt such a demand for it,they wouldnt raise so many animals,so there would not be dead animals lying around waiting to be eaten. It is the greedy factory farmers fault and the people who feel the need to fill their bellies with decomposing flesh. What do vegans have to do with that?

You have brought anti-vegetarianism to a new high level of non-sensical lunacy.

beeg - If your not being sacrastic, then you are wack!

You eat whatever you want, but I'll be damned if I'll stick a carcas in my mouth just b.c Meat eaters killed it and want to waste it's flesh-That's blood on their hands, not mine.

I drink milk freely, though I do drink 0% fat, b.c yeah-Milk is fattening, why do you think it's so good for all babies ?

Anyhow, I have no problems with meat eaters, but I do have a problem with them acting all rightious just b.c they feel differently on a subject. I have no clue where you pull your facts from, but if milk made people skinny it would have no benifits for growing babies.

I love animals, so that's why I try not eating meat, but vegans are annoying!

YOU'RE IGNORANT

Yes if everyone does not eat meat then the slaughtered animals will be wasted, but that is a sacrifice.

once all the meat is gone no one else would kill them because no one will eat it anymore.

Lets say a butcher kills 10 cows for 10 customers every week.
He kills the cows on every Monday, lets say.
But the people buy the meat on Friday.

"Now its Monday and the butcher has all his meat ready for the customers.

Then that Tuesday 4 of the customers decide to be vegan and not to eat meat anymore.

They do not show up on Friday for the meat.

>The meat that was for them is wasted..but the butcher would only prepare 6 cows next week instead of ten. "

This is a very small example of the sacrifice i am trying to explain.
Although this example is not reality, but it does effect over large amount of time.

It is said that a vegan saves more than 100 animals a year.
So the meat is wasted this year, but the next, less animals die.

I Hope you understand and make right choices

Please be Compassionate and Loving for the creatures we share the Earth with.

You obviously don't understand supply and demand.

Your other question about apple trees feeling pain proved that you know nothing about biology.

This question proves you know nothing about economics either.

I don't eat meat because I believe it is wrong to do so. I have never forced anyone to become vegetarian and I have never tried to force my opinions on anyone else. So please, get over the fact that some people choose not to eat meat/fish/gelatine/etc. We aren't doing anything to you, so leave us alone.

You realize that vegetarians and vegans make up about 5% of the population, right? If animals are rotting and going to waste, I doubt that it has much to do with the 5% of the population that doesn't eat them. Are you really making this argument? Think of all the tofu that rots because you eat meat. See how incredibly stupid that sounds?

Yeah, milk is not good for you. The dairy industry has told you it is, all the way back to when you had milk with your school lunches. But stop and think about what you're doing. You're ingesting the food intended for the infants of another nonhuman species. We are the only animal that keeps drinking milk after infancy, and we're also the only animal that drinks the milk of ANOTHER animal. Most humans become lactose intolerant in adulthood. There's a reason for that.

If you drink milk for the calcium, ask yourself: Where did the cow get the calcium in the first place? From the food it ate! What do cows eat? Grains and plants! Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

The worst thing about milk is the casein. Pick up a book called "The China Study" if you really want to know all of the health problems casein can cause. I know, you probably won't, so don't come crying to us when your animal-laden diet makes you sick, as it inevitably will.

It doesn't sound like you've done any research before asking this question. Yahoo also has a search engine that allows you to look up any information that you please.

Meat is going to be wasted whether I eat some or not. If you buy meat from the store, you are contributing to waste. Grain had to be fed to factory-farmed animals and that land used to grow it could be used for much more effective things. They never know how much meat is going to be sold, so they have to guess. This means that contributing to that system is saying that waste is alright and it should continue. You even reward them with your money and encourage waste.

If someone wants to eat meat, they should have to go out and shoot it themselves. If that is too much for them, they should have to settle for the leftovers of generous hunters.
Legal hunting is the only way to eat meat without contributing to waste and is the least cruel. I would never kill another animal unless it was endangering human life, but hunting is much better that factory-farming and being shot in the vitals is much better that being eaten alive by predators.

People becomes vegetarian because of healthy reasons as well as trying to stop killing animals.
