po·ta·to [ p? táytō ] (plural po·ta·toes)

noun

Definition:

1. root vegetable: a rounded white tuber cooked in a variety of ways as a vegetable. Use: industrial source of starch.

both. starch is not part of the food pyramid!

Root vegetables are carrots, beets, yams, etc. Potato is a starch.

it is a vegetable that contains starch.

It is a great vegetable that's starchy that is really good. I myself prefer my starchy vegetable to be a baked potato with various toppings. French fries are good also but I don't have them often. Not because they are fattening but because I guess I'm lazy.

I'm no expert, but a potato is a starchy vegetable!!!
