Can I eat soy every day??!
Answers: I wanted to get the Boca soy burgers to eat for lunch...Can I eat one every day?? Is it okay to drink a glass of soy milk with it? I keep hearing conflicting things about the benefits/risks of soy. I don't eat much meat, so I wanted to make sure this would be alright for me and my husband....Thank You
My wife is a registered dietitian with a Master's Degree in nutrition and she would say it's okay as long as you aren't allergic to soy.
I wouldn't want to eat the same thing everyday, it sounds kind of boring and you might miss some nutrients. Variety is always the best.
The alleged risks of soy are based on the beliefs of certain people who have no real credentials in nutrition. People are free to believe whatever they want, of course, but their views on soy are not supported by the American Dietetitic Association or the medical community at large.
Diet fads and nutrition misinformation are common. A few years ago it was the "evils of carbs", now it's the "evils of soy." A few years from now it will be something else. Some people like to play on unfounded fears; I'm not sure why.
I eat soy everyday. I've read all that contradicting stuff too but hey, I am okay.
Soy is one of many foods that can create an alergy. To avoid this, eat it only every 3 days.
Other alergenic foods are:
Wheat
Milk
Oranges
Corn
But there's alot of other foods that most people don't eat:
rice
millet
quinoa
garbonsos
lentels
pistashios
kiwi
mango
As with almost everything... "too much of anything is bad". I would eat it/drink it (soy) in moderation. Soy has a nutritional componant, but I also thing too much can be unhealthy. If you drink the milk, I would have something different for lunch (salad), if you eat the burger, drink water. Good Luck!
Yes you can. But if your only purpose of doing so is to get protein, then that may be overdoing it a bit especially with the addition of soy milk.
With the wide array of foods available, I just don't see the point of the monotony of eating one type of food daily. And I think Boca makes other mock meats that you can have for lunch.
I dont think that stuff is true. Many Japanese people eat soy every day and they are some of the healthiest people on the planet.
If possible, mix up your menu choices. Tofu is a soy product. Roasted soy beans are a nice snack.
you can, but why, real meat tastes better
of course it's all right. I have been eating soy almost every day of my life, and I'm perfectly fine.
