Soy milk recommendations?!
What's your favourite brand of soy milk? Why is it better than other types? Or, do you prefer rice milk? Any info would be great. Thanks!
Answers: I've been a vegetarian for most of my life but still eat dairy. I only have milk in my tea (once a day) and on cereal (once every two weeks or so). I want to start buying soy milk instead, but the kinds I've tried in the past all seem to be somewhat gritty.

try almond milk thats the best - i love it! its usually near the soy milk, at walmart. not in the fridge but he coffee and cream area.
I love Silk soy milk. I buy the Organic kind, vanilla is the best :)
Silk soy milk is good, and smooth. 8th Planet has a fake vanilla flavor.
Silk. It tastes so good. Vanilla.
Silk!!! Vanilla or Plain. Very Beneficial for us females.
I love Edensoy Vanilla soymilk. I prefer the regular type without the extra vitamins because I can taste the vitamins in the extra vitamins version.

All the best :)
The best Soy milk are the ones from Japan, after all they are the funder of living long by consuming lots of Soy products. This is the brand i love from Japan. http://www.marusanai.co.jp/lineup/index0...
I use http://www.japantodoor.com to help me order and send to me once a month. Nothing like the ones in US!!
I like 8th continent vanilla soy milk, it is not as thick as other brands. Silk has a good flavor, but some people that are not used to the thicker consistency don't like it.
I am not vegtn. and do not like soy milk. My sister is lactose intolerant and she uses both soy and almond milk...and the almond milk tastes great. I've tried both when visiting her.
I only have soy in my espresso coffee, as it steams well and has a kind of sweet nutty taste - vitasoy is good. (red box)
I've tried rice milk, it's very sweet and watery, okay on cereal.
I don't like soy or rice milk in tea, but it's probably something you could get used to.
Some soy yogurt is pretty tasty too.
Never cared much for soy milk. I used to buy Rice Dream, but then I discovered Almond Breeze. It's really REALLY good.
I generally make my own almond milk now though.
Why don't you try rice milk ?
Its not so creamy as soya and I think much nicer.
You can use it in cooking, cereals, tea etc just like dairy.
I prefer Rice Milk, because i really don't like Silk soy milk ,it doesn't always taste quite right to me sometimes depending on the type. I like vanilla rice milk, it tastes really nice, but when i do drink soy milk i just get the small bottles that are usually kept in the vegetarian and vegan section of the store, the chai vanilla type are really nice.
i will preface my answer by saying that i do not like milk, period. any milk including soy milk. having said that, my mom only uses soy mike, and has tried many different brands before settling on Eden Soy. She uses the original, unsweetened variety.
I've been trying different milks lately - rice, oat, soy - I haven't been able to find any almond or hemp milk, or I would try those too. The one I'm using now is a blend of soy and oat.
I find some of them a bit watery, and some a bit sweet, but not gritty (they used to be, decades ago, but the methods have obviously improved since then).
Silk Chocolate..cant find any better then that hun!
Sometimes you just have to experiment. I prefer the refrigerated kind, Silk, because it doesn't seem to have the preservatives that the other kind contain. I use it in cereal, cooking, and any place I would use regular milk. It is usually available at Walmart. Almond milk, rice milk, oat milk, and hemp milk are also good, but more pricey.
I am lactose-intolerant and I think Silk is by far the best national brand--I don't like 8th Continent at all. If you don't like the plain variety too much, buy the vanilla flavor for your cereal and the chocolate flavor as a treat; they're both very tasty.
Too much soy is not good because soy products can be difficult for the body to digest. I would recommend rice, hemp or nut milks as a healthier alternative. Beware of the flavored milks, as they tend to have added sugar. In terms of health, dairy milk is better than some soy milks (silk chai, for example) because the sugar content is lower and naturally occurring.
If you have your heart set on soy milk, go for the silk unsweetened because even the plain has added sugar. Silk is good because it is organic and easy to find.
My favorite is Silk Plus Omega-3 DHA. Not only is it fortified with a vegetarian source of omega-3, but it tastes better than any other non-dairy milk I've tried... it's pretty bland (in a good way; it doesn't have any strong or unpleasant tastes like the other soymilks I've tried).
Good luck with your search.
