Do I overeat on fruits & vegetables? I need to go produce shopping almost every other day & spend an avg. $35.!
Answers: I am vegetarian and I even try to pick out sales! I eat yogurt and cottage cheese, but I seldom eat egg, bread, and pasta. I mostly just eat loads of fruits and vegetables, but today when I devoured an entire family carton of blueberries and a bag of spinach [with MANY other produce items], I realized that maybe I have a problem with overeating. I hope someone has answer because I feel like I will get fat and poor from this habit.
No, you don't have a problem with eating. The world has an agricultural problem where all the food is fed to animals to make meat with the little that's left over for us humans becomes very expensive. The answer... start your own garden. We can step into our garden and take out a good $20 worth (retail) of stuff for one meal and you can't even see where we took it from (meaning, the garden is packed full)... and it costs us probably 10 cents. Growing your own = cheap.
Yes, you are eating too much. You need 3 servings of fruit and 4 of vegetables per day. A bit more than that is fine, even good for you. But too much more is bad. You need grains and protein in your diet as well.
You should not be consuming so much fruits and veggies but you havent mentioned any protein packed foods. Protein fills you up and helps satisfy your hunger. Try and implement healthy proteins and so whole grains.
If you eat more things high in protein like beans and nuts then you wont need to eat as much. I have protein powder in the morning and this keeps me full for a long time. Maybe it is the fruit and veg you buy that makes it expensive- I know where I live I could never afford that many blueberries (wish they grew berries in North QLD, Aus)
ITS TERRIBLE THAT IT costs more to eat healthy, but i guess its worth it, lol
i dont think your eating too much, i think your eating too much expensive fruit and veg, xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Well if you are not Vegan then I would supplement a Milk casein and soy protien shake, for at least one meal a day, if you eat it for breakfast you will feel full for a long time and it is only about $15 for a months supply, if you are Vegan then go for an all soy isolate protein powder not so tasty but it too will help quell your appetite. Also, here in Germany we eat bread, jams and cheeses for two meals a day and I dont spend that much food in three days with a family of 3 so maybe you could try to switch to a european diet as well. Good luck and God Bless
