Am i a seafood vegeterian?!
Answers: I dont exactly know what i am. I've just started not eating meat except for fish(or seafood). And i do take dairy products. So what exactly am i, i'm not very sure.
Well to be completely “official” about the whole thing…………
A fish is an animal. Vegetarians don’t eat animal flesh. Therefore, if you eat fish, you are not a vegetarian.
I eat a vegan diet but according to “the powers that be on this site” I am not an “official” vegan because I still wear leather shoes.
To be honest, all this labelling of people really annoys me. Who really cares what you are known as or what you should be known as.
Let’s just enjoy our food and get on with life.
Let’s be thankful that we have food, as there are millions around the world going hungry tonight.
(If you really want to be pedantic about the whole thing, I think you are “officially” known as a Pescetarian)
.
Well, I have a sister that claims she is a vegetarian, but still eats fish. I've not wanted to get into it with her, but, um, if you eat fish...you are not a vegetarian. You simply don't eat red meat or poultry.
Now...if you quit eating ALL flesh, and any products that came from animals, then you would be vegan. I think there should be a special name made for ppl that don't eat red meat or poultry...let's make one up. UUHHH....
Uh, boost, kinda nasty, and it has a lot of calories. Add more legumes and lentils to your diet, they are RICH in protein!
I used to do that, I just told people that i was a vegetarian, but I ate fish for protein. To be honest milk isn't as healthy as people make it out to be, it has a lot of unnecessary things in it. But if you want to be a vegetarian eat a lot of nuts like almonds. they have a good amount of protein and is way healthier than milk.
but to answer you question your just eating what works for you, I don't know if there's a name for it.
You aren't a vegetarian as fish are animals, you are simply a picky eater (that's not ment to seem like a harsh comment btw)
If you want to go vegetarian, you could always eat eggs and legumes for protiene (or however you spell it)
But for now your fine, just be careful, some vegetarians will get really agro if you start calling yourself vegetarian when you still eat fish.
There is actually a name for what you are, it's like Sumo vegetarian or something... don't quote me on that because I honestly don't know.
It is called pescatarian.
You're a picky omnivore. There's no such thing as a seafood vegetarian because there's no such thing as a vegetarian who eats animals.
Yes you are. You're a pescetarian.
If you're going to eat mostly veggies, you need to make sure you are taking supplements. Fish will give you some of the things you are missing like protein and omega 3's but you need to be careful. Make sure you are replacing the things you are missing by cutting out meat. But kudos for cutting it out because most people do not know that meat is not a necessity in a diet. There is always always other ways to get your different nutrients.
I don't know about sea food vegetarians but i know that you are the non-vegetarian type of "vegetarian" because you still eat sea food and seafood are still animals.
You are a healthy eater from what i can tell and I think you should be happy with that and stop obsessing with labels.
there's no such thing as a vegetarian that eats seafood.
you're an omnivore, fish is meat.
You are an omnivore.
Lacto-ovo vegetarianism
NO red meat, fish or poultry
Eats dairy and eggs
Lacto vegetarianism
NO red meat, fish, poultry OR eggs
Eats dairy
Ovo vegetarianism
NO red meat, fish, poultry OR dairy
Eats eggs
Veganism
NO red meat, fish, poultry OR dairy, eggs, honey or any other animal by product.
Note: Pescetarians, Pollotarians and Flexitarians are NOT real vegetarians, they are simply are categories of omnivores.
Good for you, you've reduced your meat in take to seafood. Thats of great benefit in many ways - to your health, the environment and for land-based animals.
Its not related to the word vegetarian though.
You could call yourself a pescatarian if you wanted a single word definition.
The word is not widely used so you might have to expain it to people so please do not fall into the trap of saying "I'm a vegetarian that eats fish". It would not make sense.
"trenardy " misses the point a bit. "Vegetarian" is not a label. Its a word with a formal defintion. People would care if I said "I'm a Catholic that beleives Buddah is a god and Jesus was just an outspoken celebrity" So why can i not care about the use of the word vegetarian correctly ?
and its certainly not "pedantic" either - thats very insulting.
If you were a vegetarian, and got offered fish in umteen resturants, beleive me, you'd care about this fishy business too.
Back to the main question, you do not need fish for "vitamins, nutrients". Many people are lifelong vegetarians. check out all the vegetarian groups and societies -they all have sub-groups for teenagers, none of which need to eat fish.
if you eat fish then its called pesci-vegetarian :) i am 20 and i just became vegetarian right after thanksgiving. i did it overnight. was quite simple for me, i only got cravings the first month...try it again
i dont recommend any suppliments or shakes etc!! just be smart. this website shows where you can get your nutrients in foods besides meat :)
