Geltin and Glycerin especially! There is gelatin in food such as Jello, gummy bears and marshmallows. And there is glycerin in alot of granola bars. Good question!

Wow, there's a lot of stuff that you should look out for. Could you be more specific? What type of food??

For instance in crisps, avoid monosodiumglutamate.
Cut down on E numbers in everything..

YOU LOOK FOR ALL THE STUFF YOU DONT WANT TO EAT , DAIRY AND MEAT BY PRODUCTS JUST STICK AS CLOSE TO NATURAL AS YOU CAN GET THEN YOULL BE OK

That depends on if you're vegetarian or vegan. Many vegetarians avoid rennet and gelatin, as well as red meat, poultry and seafood.

Vegans avoid all products derived from animals.
Here is a list:

Good luck!

I know one: enzymes. I am Muslim so I can't eat pork or pork products. This leaves out many cheeses made with porcine enzymes. This also leave me high and dry with Doritos nacho cheese flavor, but I can have the cool ranch! Yummy. Good luck finding more, I also know that anything with gelatin is generally made with animal not vegetable gelatin unless specified on label, including jello and also most marshmallows.

Avoid hydrogenated oil, aka: trans-fat, shortening, margarine, vegetable fat.

Do you eat dairy and eggs?

Gelatine is a big one (some candy and gum)

If you don't eat dairy, then there are whey and casein...both in many products.

Other then those ones...you should look at the site someone posted (caring consumer) for a list.

If you're just wanting to avoid meat products, then look for gelatin as well, and obviously chicken broth or beef extract or the like. Also beware of worchestershire sauce and Caesar dressing that may contain anchovies.

gelatine. they normally do not state what gelatine but it is usually animal. also look for bovine. there are a few times when i was offered sweets, a brand i did not know and when checking it usually contained bovine. the easter marshmallow eggs as well - BEWARE
