Vegan Groceries?!

Question: I have been researching and have decided to become a Vegan for many reasons. However, being new to it Im trying to figure out the best foods to eat. Does anyone know of any grocery stores or stores in general that cater to Vegans in the Markham, Toronto, or York region area in Ontario? Thanks so much!

okay, I recently became a vegan, this is what worked for me:

*find recipes for foods you would like to eat. - online free vegan recipes. also veganomica cook book.
* 90 % of the ingredients can be found in your normal food store.
* go to the special food stores for the ingredients you can not find anywhere else. - or order on-line
* cook more at home and make enough for dinner and next day lunch.
* love to try different things!

most foods I eat, are fruits, veggies, beans and grains, all that can be found in yout local food store.

Also here is all the vegan foods, http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/

avoid the junk stuff.

I DONT KNOW OF ANY STORES BUT YOU CAN FIND PLENTY OF GOODS FROM ANY FOOD STORE . FOR GOOD RECIPES GO TO FATFREEVEGAN.COM THEN GO SHOPPING FOR THE INGREDIENTS AND HAVE FUN MAKING DIFFERENT FOODS AND GET PLENTY OF FRUIT AND VEGGIES HAVE FUN

Whole Foods Market is at 87 Avenue Road in Toronto. There is also Better Living, Forever Healthy...
There are lots of them! Here is the list from the Toronto Holistic Directory:

Good Luck!

You don't really need a store that specifically caters to vegans if you are prepared to cook for yourself. You might have a hard time finding vegan prepared convenience foods in a regular grocery store. But if you're eating mostly whole foods, produce, cereals and legumes can be gotten anywhere and I haven't seen a grocery store in years that didn't stock tofu and at least a small selection of faux meats. A diet based on whole foods is also cheaper and healthier than a diet based on a lot of commercially prepared stuff.
