Answers: I'm a vegetarian, and someone told me that soy products (like soya milk and veggie meats) make you fat. Is this true?

No, but......I NEVER knew this but a good friend who is a nurse, told me that too much soy in your diet can increase your hormonal levals......go figure! Nothing like going into hormonal hell! Ichecked a few sources in magazines regarding soy and, yes, that is where the idea that soy makes you fat. Think of mentrual time and how hungry that you are because of increased hormonal levals......thus the link between soy making you fat......can't seem to win.

Bottom line from a Biologist; It all comes down to calories in versus calories out. If you eat more calories than you burn, you are going to gain weight, no matter what you eat. Period.

No! did you ever see fat Chinese people? They brought us the soy products. there is no fat in them. So how could they make you fat? however, I find they don't taste good, so maybe your friend is adding something to them that maker HER fat.

lol no it depends how much of thme u eat i eat tofu and soy milk and soy stuff allthe times im not fat lol but its called moderation!!

As the one person already wrote - it all boils down to calories.

If you take in more than you use - no matter what the diet - you will gain weight.

But in and of itself - no - soy does not make you fat.

i know they make you fart if that any help to you

will in a way, since soy is replacing meat for people who dont eat meat. and techincally EVERYTHING besides water, makes you fat. if you dont burn off the calories, you will get fat.

oh and judy, i've seen a LOT of chinese people who are fat. its japanese who are skinny cuz all they eat is fish practicly. and rice and stuff.

Myth: Asians consume large amounts of soy foods.
Truth: Average consumption of soy foods in Japan and China is 10 grams (about 2 teaspoons) per day. Asians consume soy foods in small amounts as a condiment, and not as a replacement for animal foods.

Not many people in America realize this and drink as much soy milk as they want. Yes, it can make you fat. We're not meant to consume so much soy. It's unhealthy.
