Vegan or Vegetarian recipes wanted.... needs to look and feel like pulled pork BBQ.?!

Question: I am at a loss on what would give me a really good texture like a pulled pork sandwich. I don't want to do "kebobs" like all the recipes that I pulled up on the computer and apparently I don't know how to phrase it right for a yahoo search.

Any help would be appriciated.

The reason for the texture and style, my friend thinks that you have to give up so much for the lifestyle and I would like to serve her a meal that just blows her away... and the pulled pork bbq on a hard roll is one of her fav things, I just want to find a way to serve her an earth friendly version of her fav meal.

I've never tried it, but some people in another forum I've visited have had good results using jackfruit (I think it's canned.) I'll try to dig up a couple of links for you.

There are several other mentions of it; if you're not finding what you're looking for with these threads, just go to the Post Punk Kitchen site and search the forums for jackfruit or pulled pork and you'll find lots more discussion (and more photos.)

(P.S. I love that you found Pamela's blog - she's a regular on the Post Punk Kitchen so she's probably a part of the threads I linked.)

you need to buy a cook book called veganomicon. its great! and its only 20 bucks! cool ya!

Try looking through this free E-book, it's got 490 award winning recipes.
