Vegetarianism and weight loss.?!

Question: Almost a moth ago, I decided to try vegeterianism.
It's great and all but...I've been losing weight.
The thing is, I didnt need to lose weight, maybe like 5 pounds.
I dont want to go underweight!
What can I do?

I have actually lost quite a bit of weight lately too. I think it's good to add carb-rich foods, like pastas and rice and grains and breads, but don't buy white or enriched flour products unless you're fine with those.
Try eating more food, too. I'm guessing you're male and fairly young so you should be striving for about 2000-2500 kcal a day. Sometimes when I am busy I forget to eat as often. Also if you drink diet sodas, you can switch to regular and that will add calories to your daily regimen.

Good Luck.

I didn't loose any weight when I became a vegetarian.

Try yummy calorie dense food like the ones found in the cookbook "How it all Vegan".

Pastas, potatoes, etc pack a heavy caloric punch.

Good luck!

Ahhh, I wish I had your problem! :) I'm vegan, and have been a year--I could still stand to lose 10 lbs! (I'm also a nursing mother, so I'm not too worried...)

Do you eat a lot of the good fats like nuts and avocados?

Those are really tasty, and are fatty, but not unhealthy. Good for you for starting so young. You'll find the right diet for yourself, give it some time!

check out www.funadvice.com it will answer all your questions!!

You wont,,as long as you have some fat foods too, sneek in some chocolate,,im a vegaterian too have been a year. i have lost weight

It's simple, you can eat loads of chocolates and chip and fries anything high in fat. this happened to me but I stocked up on candy bars, diritos, coke and fries and i put on pounds real fast.

the problem is that too many people think that vegetarian diet means broccoli, salad and fruits.
People(not only vegetarians) should eat more carboidrates(bread, potatoes, pasta and rice), human body needs energy, but proteins, vitamins and fibres do not provide it with the right amount of calories.
You need to eat more pasta, rice, potatoes and bread.
Good luck.

Eat more.
Eat more nuts and nut butters and make some yummy vegetarian desserts, smoothies, soups and rice dishes. Look up some recipes on line and start experimenting with them.........enjoy!

This site is highly recommended - the free E-book they offer is a great kickstart when you're trying to lose weight.
