I'm a recent vegetarian and the best advice I got was, there are no "rules." It's your life you eat the way you want to eat. I thought there would be some magic book or list some where too. I just quit eating meat, I bought tofu and my boyfriend made a great tofu curry dish. You can make any 'meat' meal vegetarian. It's amazing! :) You can eat what you want when you want it. I have a vegan friend that eats fish on occasion. It's your life and you pick how you eat. Why are you becoming vegetarian? Figure that out and then you'll know what to eat and what not to. If you want to eat fish on occasion you can, if you want to eat eggs you can...it's all up to you. :) Check out the book becoming vegetarian it was recommended to me. Good Luck!

Why Become Vegetarian?
There are as many reasons for becoming vegetarian as there are vegetarians; it's a highly personal and individual decision to make. But in a survey conducted on behalf of The Vegetarian Society the majority of people said that they gave up meat and fish because they did not morally approve of killing animals, or because they objected to the ways in which animals are kept, treated and killed for food.
With the growing awareness of the importance of healthy food, many people are also becoming vegetarian because it matches the kind of low fat, high fibre diet recommended by dieticians and doctors. Concern about the environment is another factor as people become more aware of the effect raising animals for their meat is having on the environment. Or you may be concerned about wasting world food resources by using land to raise animals for meat instead of growing crops that can feed more people directly.

I started with, "I'm going to eat less meat" last February '07 and I haven't eaten any turf meat since. I do, however, eat seafood so I am not a vegetarian. But if you decide to become a vegetarian, keep in mind that vegetarians don't eat seafood as well. After I stopped eating hamburgers, steaks, chicken sandwiches, etc., I've realized there are so many other foods I was missing out on. I've realized that you can whip up anything with veggies, noodles/pasta , herbs, soy sauce, olive oil, ginger, sugar etc. Just go to the grocery store, look around and buy a cart full of different things. You can search up different Asian recipes and take the meat out of the recipe and replace it with something else like tofu or fried tofu. Bottom line is that you can make just about anything without meat; you just have to start cookin'. Good luck.
