Which type of milk do you prefer- Soya, Rice or Almond and why?!
Answers: I prefer soy because it stimulates estrogen production and it has less carbs and fat. Almond is a nut so it is more oils while rice has more starch. Research has shown that rice has fat cells and that is why people who eat bleached rice become more obese than people who eat brown rice. Also, rice is a simpler carb so it is stored more easily in the body as fat than brown rice or soy. By the way rice milk is made from bleached rice.
Soy and Rice because I'm a vegetarian and I just like the taste
I haven't made up my mind, either. I preferred Soy for a good while, but somehow, I came across some that seemed to go "bad" way before it's due date. I don't know, maybe it was the store, or that batch. But once I ate lumpy soymilk--I was done. Now I do rice--which seems much thinner, but is great on cereal and coffee. I never really just drink a glass--
I look forward to the answers, maybe I'll try Almond.
My kids think it's a big treat, though to get "Vanilla" flavored every once in a while, and I heat it up and tell them it's like white chocolate milk...they love it...heehee!
EDIT:Great info from the Nutritionist, thanks...maybe I'll just go back to soy, but another brand... :)
Soymilk... I drink Silk Plus Omega-3 DHA and it's nice to know that I'm getting a vegetarian source of omega-3. It also tastes much better than the rice and almond milks that I've tried. Vitasoy Peppermint Chocolate soymilk is also delicious, but it's more of a dessert!
SOYMILK WITH HONEY IN IT!
Soy, rice, & hemp. Soy because of the taste, versatility, and nutrients! Rice mainly more of a drink than a milk, it has a light, fresh, sweet taste. Hemp is also really, really good in taste and texture, but it is expensive, only comes in a small container, and has less nutrients than soy, although it has a lot of essential fatty acids. Almond is okay, but I really hate the aftertaste, also not much nutrients.
And, Michael G: To be politically correct, these are all plant milks, which therefore is milk, not mammal milk, but plant milk.
Soy milk is without question the most nutritious. If you are a vegan like me, you should consume more soymilk than other kinds of milk substitutes - none of them have half the protein (and in most cases, vitamins and minerals) of soymilk.
Edensoy brand (original enriched) has 11 grams of protein per serving; rice and almond milk frequently only have 1 or 2 grams of protein per serving! Hemp milk is a little better but not by much - usually 4 or 5 grams per serving, and lots of sugar. I like the others for baking and as a treat but I don't use them in the bulk of my diet.
i LOVE vanilla soy!! i really want to try chocolate!
but i drink organic milk though. :x
Soy milk! :)
i love soy milk.haven't tasted rice though till now.
i take soy milk bcos i was told it is good for female hormone and hair and skin...thats the reason...
Soy milk makes me want to cry. I've tried to like it so many times and I just can't!! No doubt its nutritional is through the roof compared to the others, but that's not enough to make me make myself drink it. If that makes sense!
Almond milk would have to be my favourite from the list, but it's gotta be home made... with a bit of sweetener and vanilla essence. The pre-packaged almond milk doesn't taste that great.
Rice milk also gets the thumbs up!
Soy- it's cheaper, easier to find, WAY good for vegetarians and..
the CHOCOLATE soy milk is f***ing good!
i dont like rice, cant eat almond for allergies, too
much soy they say can cause cancer,,,,,, so im now onto oat milk, i even make it myself! xxxxxxxxxxxx
Light soy milk. Light coz it has less calories and usually tastes less nutty. Havn't tried almond or rice milk yet.
Rice....it most resembles the skim (cow's) milk I was drinking before I made the switch.
I do like soy milk as well, though.
As an avid baker, I find that both do well in my baked goods.
:-D
I haven't tried rice or Almond milk before. But I love soy milk. It tastes really good and doesn't give you that phlegmy feeling in my mouth.
Cow's, cause it's what I grew up on.
actually, to be politically correct, none of these are milk, they are milk substitutes
