Is pure chocolate ok for vegans?!

Question: I heard that vegans can't eat chocolate because most contains milk. But is pure cocoa okay? It's basically chocolate, but with no sugar or anything.

pure cocoa is fairly unedible, bitter and totally filled with caffeine.

yes, many dark chocolates are suitable for vegans and there are vegan milk chocolate bars that you can buy online. There are some brands of chocolate chips that are vegan. Just look around and check the ingredients.

Pure cocoa is vegan, but it's pretty nasty. I just tried a 99% pure cocoa bar recently and was like, wow, this is awful.... but I ate it anyway because I'm a chocoholic.

Certain companies make a great chocolate bar without milk, milkfat, butterfat, or any sort of milk product whatsoever. Check the organic or health-food section of any big grocery. Also, look for chocolates with different percentages on them. They tend to be higher quality, and anything 65% and above has a pretty high chance of being made without milk products. Chocolate made without milk is very rich, though, and not quite as soft - though it still melts-in-your-mouth perfectly. Dagoba and Newman's makes some great milk-free chocolate, and I've found those at regular grocer's :)

I recently turned vegan, and i thought that was the end of my cho's days! No, behold Walmart has atleast about 9 different vegan cho's. they do not say vegan, you just have to read the ingredients.

coco butter is vegan too.

buy a whole bunch and try them out and see which one you like the best.

Its A okay!

I wouldn't eat pure chocolate, as it's quite bitter. Anything above 70 percent cacao is too strong for me. But there are plenty of vegan chocolate bars out there. Chocolove, Dagoba, Green & Blacks, and Endangered Species all have vegan varieities. Terra Nostra makes rice milk chocolate bars. Tropical Source makes vegan chocolate bars on dedicated machinery. Rose City Chocolatier has a vegan line of boxed chocolates.

Check out any vegan online retailer, and you will see lots of choccy options for you! Otherwise, just read the label.

I'm not vegan but my father was a 50 years pattisie and he told me that chocolate is for vegans also!!!!!i don't know about the cocoa butter that's in it!!!!!but I've seen chocolates for vegan been sold at shops for vegans

there are vegan chocolates yes
dark chocolates and some milk chocolates that contain rice milk instead of cow
I also get raw caoco powder which I make some raw chocolate desserts with very yummy and very vegan

chocholate is totally ok, only few is made with milk or milk powder, most of them is with soy lecitin, but the dark is apsolutly "safe" you can eat it anytime
