How can i convince my parents to let me be a vegetarian?!
Answers: i've wanted to be a vegetarian for a very long time. i even tried it once but i didn't focus on getting the nutrition and stuff that i needed. my parents tell me i won't be healthy, and that they were meant to be eaten. i completely disagree.. i know there are pills and things you can take but does anyone have anything i could say to convince them?

Tell them that if they dont respect your views the you wont respect theirs and become veggie anyway.Go on a stike and everytime one of them cooks meat for you leave it no matter how hungery you are.They will come round.My mam was like that when i was about 12 but when i got to 15 they said that they respect my views and im old enough to cook the food myself.xxx
It is completely healthy, though. Just tell them how long you've been waiting and you really disagree with them. They should respect your opinion.
tell them that its completely healthy as long as you eat enough fruits and veggies. That will def. help u stay healthy
my mums a veggie and she perfectly healthy reserch it and sho ur parents say how unhappy u r to eat meat or anything that is alive good luck u coulod cry and say how guilty u feel by eating animals ect
Tell them that if you learn about it, you will be completely fine. You think its right. Dont yell, and be polite.
Seems like they are not concerned about the ethics as much as the health impacts. I can refer you to the links below. It will be a good way to show them that eating less meat may be much healthier in the long run. None of these are "pro-vegetarian" type websites. Your parents may be more receptive to them then they would websites discussing how great vegetarianism is. Usually, that's a turn-off to meat-eaters. Of course, if you are not in the United States, this might not work. These links specifically address the US food supply.
Start calling bacon-pig a*s,and sausage-ground up Babe for breakfast. Oh and be sure to include heavy sighs and massive throwing up when they force you to eat meat during meals. It will work better if their friends happen to be eating with them. Or you can simply insist that you are making an informed and educated decision that you feel is something VERY important to you and as your parents, it is vital that you have their support on this one.
ask your parents to make an appointment for all of you with a nutritionist. The nutritionist will educated you about what you should make sure you have in order to stay healthy, and s/he will educate your parents on the safety & benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle.
My boyfriend is vegetarian, and when he told his mother that he had decided to do so, she worked for the health department at the time & consulted with the nutritionist there - so I'm sure this same solution should work for you & your folks.
The main thing that you'll need to be aware of when you begin a vegetarian diet is getting enough protein - which you can supplement with eggs, cheese & other dairy, beans, nuts, tofu and other products made with soy. You can also make yourself smoothies with whey protein.
you dont need pills or anything...you will still be healthy....tell them about all da animal being killes...u will still get you proteins and other minerals from vegetarian food..beleive me i no..my mom is a veg. and she is healthy..so are my aunts and other ppl i no
Would your parents agree to talk to a nutritionist? I mean if they don't want to take your word for it perhaps you should see if they would agree to talk to someone who makes diets of people a professional career. I would start by calling the hospital and seeing if you could talk to one of their nutritionist. Well, as far as if it is the healthy diet it can be but it may not be. It is if it is done properly. Your parents are most likely worried about calcuim and protein more than anything.
Perhaps they can talk to your doctor about it. Either type of person would be more convencing than you may ever be able to be.
I am the mother of a vegetarian...and at first, I had my skepticism and worries about the kind of diet my son might be consuming..Now in your local supermarket there is a whole section of vegetarian selections, plus there is the produce aisle, frozen prepared vegetarian meals...made with soy protein and other healthy proponents such as wheat gluten and whole grains. If enough proteins and other important vitamins and minerals are consumed,regularly, the diet proves to be welll-balanced and nutritious. My son became a vegetarian when he was 16. He was also 240 lbs at that time(that was from eating tons of fatty, salty, processed foods) and he now weighs about 160 healthy pounds at 6 foot tall.

As far you not being healthy following a vegetarian diet...if you think about that is ridiculous..if anything you will probably be healthier....good luck to you! Tell your parents not to worry...it is all good!

heres an idea . .. do it anyways, tell them they can help u if they want ( for u to do it healthy) . . . i dont think they can MAKE u eat meat . . . just make sure u no what kinds of food u need 2eat
its healthy as long as your not just eating junk food. Tell your parents some healthy dinners you plan on eating instead of meat. Maybe do a little research about vegitarianism and tell them some facts they might not have known.

My mom was totally against it.. So was my dad..
But like I just told them that if it was too much, then I would stop... But I've been going strong at it....
And I like it.

Your parents can't tell you what to do. Tell them it's your body and your conscience. Simply don't eat meat. If they serve it at dinner, don't eat it. That's what I did. Stand your ground.Even if your a little hungry one night it's worth it. If they tell you they won't let you go out because of it, don't go out. Make them see that being a vegetarian is non-negotiable. This sounds extreme but my parents didn't take me seriously until I did all this. Soon they will see that it's important to you and they will start treating you with respect.
