Vegans only?!
Answers: why do u guys not eat eggs and milk? i dont get it. it doesnt hurt the animal to make those things
I could be here for hours explaining the inhumanity involved in the egg and dairy industry but I'll try and be brief and give the main points. These don't even mention the cruelty and bad conditions some 'farms' keep animals in. This is the standard for any 'farm':
1) Cows only produce milk for their young. Just like any other species they need to have a baby to lactate. Dairy cows are therefore impregnated year after year and then have their calfs taken away from them at only a few days old so they don't drink 'our' milk which is rightfully theres anyway. Cows can be heard for days bellowing for their missing young and the calfs are traumatized from being ripped away from their mothers at such a young age.
2)The babies are either fed false diets and grown into dairy cows if they're female or shot in the head or sent to the veal industry where they will die young if they're male.
3) The mother to be more profitable is impregnated soon after she gives birth so she has the double burden of producing milk and growing a baby inside her at the same time. This creates huge stress on her legs which is why 1 in 3 cows go lame by the time they are slaughtered. Not only this but there are huge amounts of hormones in milk due to the pregnant cow which is producing milk at the same time... this is a main cause to diseases like Breast cancer in humans.
4) Cows have been bred to hold an unnaturally large amount of milk... over 5 times the amount they would have naturally produced 100 years ago. This causes extreme discomfort and mastitis in 40% of dairy cows.
5) Their bodies are exhausted and 'spent' only a quater of the way through their natural life so they are killed for their meat anyway.
6) Male chicks are useless to the egg industry and so are killed at birth... for every female chick that becomes an egg laying hen there is another male chick that has been killed for being useless.
7) Beaks are often clipped so hens don't peck eachother from the stress and boredemn often associated with intensive egg laying.
8) When their egg production dwindles they are seen as unprofitable and killed for their meat when they could have years of life ahead of them.
Again, that's not to mention the horrible conditions 90% of animals are kept kept in factory farms. There's also the environmental factor... famine, pollution etc and the health implications. There are SO many reasons why animal products hurt both human and animals. You should be able to find weeks of reading on the internet and in books etc but governments keep it quiet because of you guessed it... money.
It still involves exploiting the animals.
Go visit one of these large, corporate farms someday. Then you will most definately understand.
That's where you're wrong. Milk and egg production is torturous and abysmal. Read "Diet For a New America" by John Robbins. All his material is extensively researched and fully confirmed by agency experts.
Well we don't eat those because milk is so contaminated. You would be really surprised how often the milking mechigen would fall off the cow into the crap. Why take a risk? Animals nowadays are so sick why take a chance in getting diseases.
Yes it does. It hurts them quite a bit. Most dairy cows suffer from the worst kind of mastosis. Try spending your entire life swollen and sore - then being ground up for dog food when you can't produce any more.
90% of the eggs produced in America come from hens in battery cages.
They are denied the most basic life. No sun. No room to even stand up. Sometimes the skin of their feet actually grows around the metal of the cages they are in. Sometimes they get stuck and die. And their corpses are left to rot while their cage mates live in terror.
Please see the link below for images of hens in battery cages.
You know, when male chicks hatch, since they can't produce eggs, they are either tossed into a meat grinder to be ground to death while alive and aware, or they are put in plastic bags and left to slowly suffocate.
Because their cramped and deplorable conditions drive them insane to the point of trying to kill one another - their beaks are cut off with a hot blade and NO anesthetic.
Forced reproduction shortens their natural lifespan. And when they can not produce any longer, then are ground up for pet food.
Or in the case where they can't be ground up for pet food, they are gassed and buried - sometimes still alive. Please see the article below on "zombie chickens."
I won't even get started on milk production. But do view The Meatrix for a better understanding.
Have you done any research to back up your claims?
Mass-market egg farms, where battery hens are sitting in rows of cages laying eggs, are more cruel than even the meat industry. I would rather eat a steak than an egg from a battery hen because of the absolute despicable conditions there.
Here is a picture of a battery egg farm, which most of the eggs in the store come from:

Commercial dairy farms are not much better.
To be able to produce milk a cow must be pregnant and have a calf. Her calf is taken away for veal so if you support the dairy industry you also support the veal industry by proxy.
The cow usually lives a live that is much shorter and is slaughtered once she is no longer useful and can't have milk.
Cows are frequently given hormones to stimulate milk production, causing intense strain on their bodies. They develop udder infections like mastitis, which are incredibly painful.
Cows are not meant to lactate (produce milk) endlessly until they die - their milk comes in to feed calves and goes away once their calf is grown. Their milk recurs with each pregnancy and birth - just LIKE HUMAN BREAST MILK. Humans (and other mammals) do not need to have their milk "emptied". The pain of swollen breasts and the endless routine, and the stress on the body of constantly being in lactation, is NOT natural and wrong.
Above all, dairy is a joke, I don't understand why humans feel they need to consume dairy! Dairy is not something human beings need to consume. Past infancy we do not need breastmilk, no mammal needs breastmilk past weaning. To drink ANOTHER creature's breastmilk past infancy is a perversion of nature.
Dairy has little to any benefits, plant sources of calcium routinely demonstrate as being more effective in building stronger bones. People from countries in which dairy is not consumed (basically people who get their calcium from plant sources) have an unbelievably lower rate of hip fractures than people in countries where dairy is the basis of calcium intake.
animal products aren't acceptable. besides, that egg that you eat could have been a chick
i dont do it
1. for my health 2. because of the harm that people put animals through in order to get their products, and 3. because i dont even like the idea of eating another animals milk (or eggs). I mean i cant see anyone drinking milk out of a cows utter, so i dont see why drinking it out of a jug is any different.
Because it is the process of how these foods are, in this case created. Cows are pumped with hormones and live in disgusting atmospheres where they should not be. I would eat chicken eggs from my friends chickens because they are organic and I know they live in a very open free range area but chicken eggs are a chickens period so that putt me off eating them. Chickens that are not free range or organic are in tiny cages with about 10 other chickens, most of them die because of lack of food because they can not reach it, others are pecked to death by the other chickens and most of them are fed chickens that have died like at KFC, they feed they're chickens chickens.
The animals are still abused basically.
its is very simple:
I do not like the idea of a baby - cow being taken away from its mommy with few hours of birth, just so we can have milk. and then the baby cow gets killed!
I would never want that type of pain on animal, - human or non human.
I used to think the same thing, but then my mum said, "What do you think happens to the little calves that don't get the milk?"
They get slaughtered.
So I became vegan:)
it is hurting the animals. When hens arent producing enought eggs they are shocked so that they produce more and cows are treated horrible while they are milked.
because i'm not interested in eating embryos (gross!) and i'm not a baby cow with SEVEN stomachs. milk is very difficult for our bodies to digest. don't you think it's kinda gross to drink another animal's milk anyway. i mean, would you go sucking on a dog's nipple?! how about a monkey's or a giraffe's? YUCK. why is it okay to drink a cow's milk?
You cant drink milk becuz they give the cow a type of medicine that isnt good for them beofre they milk the cow and eggs are baby chickens kind of.....
