What made you decide to go Vegetarian?!

Question: I went veetarian at about 10 years old because I don't like the texture/taste/smell of meat. It just didn't appeal to me, and I haven't eaten it since.

I do love animals, and I reflect this in my diet.

HOWEVER by no means does this mean I am somehow ''better'' than other people. Its just an alternative way of living.

At 18 I feel happy and healthy, and I love food!

I don't like the taste of meat, nor the smell of it cooking. Even looking at it all neatly packed in the supermarkets makes my stomach turn. But just because I don't eat meat, does not mean that I don't wear leather shoes and things like that. For me it is strictly a taste and smell issue.

It was the disgusting slaughter videos and unsanitary butchers I see on TV. Not to mention, how can you be sure that what you're eating really is clean animal meat?

I stopped eating meat because I always thought it was really cruel to slaughter animals to eat them when there are many alternatives we can be eating.

I love food, but it is often hard when going out in North Queensland to get nutritious vegetarian food at a restaurant. If you are lucky you will get a pasta dish or pizza, but probably not a complete protein dish.

I haven't eaten meat for 20 years, and have no intentions of doing so again. I don't think I go around thinking I am better than other people, if anything I often feel the opposite when I try to fit in at a restaurant with omnivore colleagues and the restaurant isn't very accomodating to vegetarians, it often seems like a huge hassle, but I still perservere because how can it be right for me to eat slaughtered animals?

yeah, Ian's answers was pretty f*cking stupid (exuse me, for lack of a better word)

I went laktoovovegetarian about 5 years ago, and I did it because I adore animals and because I wanted a healtier life. When I started it was hard, but I find out new things like for example vegetables that I dont used to eat before, and now I am sure that I eat more healtier and multifariouslier than those who eat meat. I feel better, I am rarly sick, and I wouldt change this for eating anymals dead bodies.

actually im not a vegeterian, but i eat more vegies than meat... for a simpliest reason...
what? As vegetarianism becomes more prevalent and popular, many parents may wonder if kids can safely follow a vegetarian diet and still get all the nutrients necessary for growing up healthy and strong. Avoiding meat may sound like a bad idea, but most dietary and medical experts agree that a well-planned vegetarian diet can actually be a very healthy way to eat.

Of course, special care must be taken when feeding kids and teens a vegetarian diet, especially if it doesn't include dairy and egg products. And as with any diet, you'll need to not only ensure that your child is getting enough of all the necessary nutrients, but understand that the nutritional needs of children change as they grow.

The Choice of Vegetarianism
There are many reasons why children or families may follow a vegetarian diet. Younger vegetarians are usually part of a family that eats vegetarian meals for health or other reasons. Older children may decide to become vegetarians because of concern for animals, the environment, or their own health.

In most cases, you shouldn't be alarmed if your child chooses vegetarianism. The best way to handle your child's choice is to discuss what it means to him or her and how he or she wants to implement it - making sure your child makes healthy and nutritious food choices.

vote huh... tnx... if this is u think is a best answer!

Im the same as you meat and fish just dont appeal 2 me at all it never has since i was a baby my mam's the same since she was little. But my brother and dad love meat.

Bye x.x..x

I watched PETA's "meet your meat" video when i was 12 and was completely revolted. Plus I never really liked meat before i watched the video anyways. I try to buy products that aren't tested on animals because it's just disgusting how people are injecting them or washing them with chemicals just so that we can have smoother hair. Being vegetarian also has a lot of health benefits. All you eat is fiber and you don't have to worry that much about all that cholesterol building up in your heart, so it's completely win-win.

the moment i noticed 'beef gelatine' in my yoghurt..

I visited a pig farm.

They had an open day because they had won an award for thier husbandry.

I was shocked to find that at this particular farm the pigs spent thier entire lives indoors in an artificial environment.

I arrived a meat-eater, i left a veggie.

I thought "if this is the best we have to offer then I'm having nothing to do with it"

That was 28 years ago, when i was 14. I've seen nothing since to change my mind.

I don't have the "arrhhh, animals are cute" attitude, but i do beleive humans should use thier intelligence to improve the lifes of animals rather than abuse our power over them in the way i believe we do.

i don't like killing animals. its really an ethical/moral issue with me. what irritates me though that some vegetarians are so holier than thou yet still continue to wear animal skin products. i don't

My bf at the time was vegan and he showed me all these videos on peta2.com it was gross i never new that animals were treated like that and i've never eaten them since. Ohh yeahh and i don't use animal tested products or wear fur.

I was 12 when I turned. It's stupid the girl from the show braceface was a vegetarian and that made me look into it. After that I just didn't want to eat animals anymore. I hate being asked why. People think you have to have some sort of epiphany. I'm proud to say I didn't have to watch a Peta video to become one. Good for you I've never met a guy who was vegetarian.

I have always been a vegetarian. My family has been a vegetarian. I never felt the need to become non vegetarian. The vegetarian food has a large variety to choose from especially in India.

I went vegetarian when I was 7 years old. Every time I ate a burger I thought of the cow happy outside in the fields, and the fact that its flesh was no in my mouth....
Not a nice thought! I love animals

Heya

I was a big meat eater.I loved chicken.I had tryed being veggie before but it just colapsed when i walked past macdonalds.I had been studing animal freedom in r.e and that same day i went to a mosque. It was all about life and stuff.I went home that night and there was a program on t.v about animals and how they were slaughtered.I ran downstairs and told my mam never to buy me any meat again.and she didnt.Ive know been a veggie for 8 months and i cant even eat soya as it tastes to much like meat.I have forgot what meat tastes like and therefore never get urges to eat it.xxx

I went vegetarian for about three hours yesterday. I really just wanted a veggie sandwhich from subway. (Toasted of course, with the onions toasted)

I was just sick of the hypocrisy that is meat eating. I can eat anything I can catch, and yet I can't eat fat people.
