This might seem like a strange question!!!!!?!

Question: does anyone know if i can freeze courgetts. i love them and use them in nearly every meal but cant always get them in the shops. if i could freeze them i could buy loads and not worry about crying if i dont get my daily fix. i have asked all my neighbours today and none of them know. also any recipes that include courgetts will be very much appreciated.

ok??? this may seem strange...but what is courgetts?...seriously i do not know but i am not a vegetarian or vegan...

O.O ....uhhh i'm pretty sure you can freeze just about anything, I don't think it will harm them

Courgetts are like old cucumbers ERGH!! YUCK! I suggest eating Peppers instead!

No it will totally ruin them

try fixing them the way you like to eat them and freeze them in their prepared form.. if that doesn't work.. I have no clue how to preserve them.. but if you enjoy them that much..Give it a try..

You can grate them or slice them and put on a pan in the freezer til rather frozen and then put them in ziplock freezer bags.

Freeze one and find out for sure.

you cannot freeze them otherwise you would be able to buy them frozen which you can't, make a ratatouie (cant spell that lol) and use them in that and freeze it that will be fine

(For the Americans - a courgette is the same thing as a zucchini.)

Yes, you can freeze them, but you have to cook them a bit first.

Wash the courgettes and dry them. Slice to about 2.5cm thick - do not peel. Heat some olive oil in a pan and fry the sliced courgettes on a low heat until tender (about 5 minutes).

Place the cooked courgettes on a tray and place them in the freezer. After an hour, remove the tray and you can pack them in a freezer bag. Label and date the bag. They will keep for 3 months.

I haven't personally, so I suggest giving it a try. Try a few different ways - freezing courgettes (a.k.a. zucchini) whole, sliced across, sliced lengthwise, cubed - and see which way works best.

I'm growing them at the moment.

Hey

you should blanche and freeze if you are going to try :)
Blanching is so great, I buy local broccoli every year and blanch and freeze it...

:)

yes you can freeze them.

You can try slicing them up and freezing them in vacuum sealed bags. But "home made" (and even a few commercial ones) frozen vegetables are likely to be of inferior quality in both texture and taste when thawed out.
