Anyone have any easy meat substitute recipes?!
Answers: I don't care much for meat so recently bought some meat substitute that looks like ground beef. I think it's made from soy. Can anyone recommend some simple and inexpensive recipes? I like pasta and all veggies except for peas. Thanks!
My dad buys meat substitutes, too. He usually makes the soy crumbles mixed in spaghetti sauce and we make some kind of pasta out of it. It's good in Prego and Ragu. Try it.
banquit sells them i think
I would say, turkey. Turkey is really good if you add the right spices. Add turkey to any meat meal. And it makes up for it.
heat wokl to medium high
Take 1 cup of cheap white wine
two red onions chopped medium /fine
with 1 cup chopped mushrooms
put together in wok and let the onion & shrooms get soft ( onions will lose their color) - Note the smell is really nice...
While that happens cooks a 1 1/2 cups of pasta till aldente
add you meat substitute to your veggies & cook it all together.
Remove from heat and now this is where this gets weird - get some herb & spice Philly cheese spread and dump it in there - mix constently for the philly to melt & mix with the juices ( prepare to salivate) and put that on top of the pasta
enjoy
It is so easy to replace meat with soy.
just cook your dinner as you would cook it with meat, then add the soy/tofu etc like you would normally.
here is a quick soy bolognese sauce:
?1 onion
?2 carrots
?1 courgette
?2 tins of copped tomatoes
?as much soy as desired
chop the onion, carrots, and courgette and add to a pan with a little olive oil. cook for about 5-10 Min's
Once cooked, add both tins to the veg and then soy. season with pepper and basil.
serve with pasta, and maybe salad.
serves 3-4
time: 15-20 mins
i hope that helps
i have loads of recipes, so contact if you would like a few more. :D

When I use Boca brand meat products, I can make so many meals out of it. My favorites would be my vegetarian green chile stew and hamburger helper.
*Green Chile Stew
Green chile stew is my favorite recipe. It's a vegetarian version since I do not eat meat.
*2 to 3 cups of chopped green chile (depending on how hot you want it)
*1 large can of drained chopped tomatoes
* 2 packages of Boca soy ground beef (trust me it's very tasty)
* 2 chopped potatos
* A few pinches of garlic salt/powder
I let the "ground beef" cook in a little vegetable oil on medium heat until the "beef" becomes browned (I usually cook it for about 10 minutes just to be sure)
After that step I add all of the ingredients and add enough water to cover the ingredients and about 2 inches more. I let that simmer in the pot until the potatos are cooked through.
At the end I like to add a Mexican blend of cheeses on top and enjoy it with a tortilla
