So am I. People adopt that lifestyle for different reasons. The individual who chooses Vegetarianism for the sake of animal rights is, in my opinion, among the most compassionate, disciplined, enlightened, committed, well-read, and ethical people in the world. Peace to you.

I think it's great. I'm not a vegetarian but I do think vegetarianism is a good thing. I've grown up eating meat so it is very hard (not impossible but very hard none the less) to give it up even though I truly do love animals. I don't wear fur, leather, etc, the only thing I do is eat meat.

im a vegan
and i think it is the right thing to do
eating a dead animal carcass is disgusting
and to kill something just being your hungry is wrong.
meat=murder.
nuff said.

I have studied natural medicine and nutrition-some of what I learnt:
1) There are no population groups who are traditionally purely vegetarian. The Hunza people, the longest living, do eat meat at certain times.
2)Many vegetarians adopt regimes that lack proper knowledge of diet and nutrition.
3)Advantages-high fibre, high carb, grains, legumes, vegies, fruits, nuts, seeds, some dairy all healthy. More alkaline diet, whereas most people have high acid diet (that's where illness can start). In medical literature, Seventh Day Adventists have lower cholesterol and lower cancer rates andheart disease than meat eaters.
4)Disadvantages-Does it suit your genetic constitution or blood type? Too much dairy isn't can cause allergies. High fibre diets can bind important minerals i.e. zinc and iron. Zinc is best utilised by the body by animal foods. Need B12 which best from meat. Need to eat lots of seeds and nuts for sufficient fats. Many vegetarians are mineral deficient-causing fatigue and immune disorder. Not good for pregnant or lactating women. B12 is low in babies born to vegan mothers (risk of retarded mental and physical development). For some B12, eat fermented foods like miso, yoghurt and sourdough.

The same as my views on homosexuality.
Do what you want but please dont force your beliefs on me and dont expect me to join in because Im just not interested.

The key to good mental and physical health. As long as you don't live on cheese and chips that is!!
Peace to you also. :)

As one vegan related to me:

Omnivores like to bite into meat and veggies/fruits.
Vegetarians like to bite into veggies and fruits only.

other than that, I reallly don't think about vegetariansm

Hi,
I love being vegetarian. I like saving some animal's life, by not eating that animal. I think people do not realize that we do not need to eat meat to survive, we can eat other things besides meat and live well.
Luckily more and more people are becoming vegetarian! I wish restuarants had more vegetarian options, though. It is hard to order if they have a lot of meat.
I do love being a vegetarian, I wish more people would be one too! =]

I'm veg; eating meat seems creepy and unnecessary. The raising and slaughter is cruel and the idea of having a rotting animal in my innards is just nasty. Plus, I never net a vegetable I didn't like the tast of!

Vegetarian food is what is required by the body.
There is nothing in nonveg which is not in veg. Iron, protiens, zinc, vitamins and other nutrients are available to whatever extent is required by the human body in vegetarian food.
Meat has excess protien which is only excreted by the kidney. In fact it overloads the kidney resulting in its earlier failure.
Milk alone has almost all the nutrition.
Veg food is without the karma of killing.
We dont kill plants for food, most of the time. When we take out carrots, we allow others to grow without competetition.
Thus in no way we kill any plants when we eat them.
Rice, wheat etc we eat after the plant's life has ended. Hence we dont kill them either.
Fruits and vegetables are meant to be eatern so that the seeds get dispersed. It is nature's clever contract!
Canine teeth in humans is only for defense not for tearing flesh as in a tiger.

You are in complete denial if you think you're saving animals. You can't pound that through their thick heads in here, but it is fun to knock them down when they get the 'holier than thou' attitude going.

i have to reply to isadora...i have respect for the choices ppl make in their diet but u make a one sided case here..u try and say breeding animals for slughter is wrong...why do we breed crops..to harvest of course, we dont harvest them from the wild do we??? and for u to say having rotting flesh in u is horrible..wot do u think the plants are doing in u..having a dance around and holding hands...not bloody likely..its ppl like you that give the decent vegetarians and vegans a bad name. And too say u dont kill carrots when u take them out..ur retarded..carrots are alive so when u take them u kill them..dumb ***, where did u graduate from..the university of DUH!!! and ur canine defence is wrong..tigers are carnivores meaning they only eat meat we have sharp teeth because on ocassion we eat meat so we need to be able to tear it.

i think vegetarianism helps to respect animals and their lives.

save more, kill less!! :)

If such a diet best suits you, then go for it. I deal with vegetarians in three categories

a) Choose to be vegetarian for health reasons: There may be a very good health-based reason you can't eat meat, or you may choose not to eat meat because you think it's healthier. More power to you I say. Not a diet for me though.

b) Those who do not eat meat for moral reasons, but do not condemn others for eating meat: I get along with these guys pretty well. While I may not agree with their moral reasoning, I do not criticize them for it. Again, they have made their personal choice, and I respect it.

c) The holier-than-thou vegetarian who calls me a murderer when I eat meat: I can't stand these people. Personal choices and opinions are something I think deserves respect. Telling a person that their eating habits is morally wrong because you say it is, that is unacceptable in my book. When these people start screeching at me for contributing to the "murder" of helpless animals I can't help but wonder what Giant Panda or California Condor would taste like.

Its a waste of perfectly good jaw muscles. Use them to chomp on meats.

=D

What a waste of your canine teeth!
If your weight is normal & you arent dieting, non-veg. food should be eaten. It contains the highest class of energy giving protiens.
eg. Most Indians are vegetarian
Most Australians are non-vegetarian
Now, whose rugby team is better?
hope you got my point

Oh, and of course, non-veg is tastier

In general, I find it unnatural.

We all know that some essential nutrients needed for a human diet are found in meat and otherwise you have to "break your neck" finding them in some weird algae, roots (that grow on Mars) or take a pill. That′s not natural.

Secondly, calling vegetarian diet "healthy" or "healthier" is one-sided position and therefore not completely truthful. It may be for some, but not for everyone for sure.

Thirdly, mixing our nature with our moral views is another unnatural behavior. We cannot change our nature by putting our moral views above it. That′s close to fanaticism.

Only humans can argue on this last one, neglecting their own instincts in order to show compassion to animals, saying "we are smart", while I consider a lioness ten times smarter when she vigorously jump on her antelope not missing for one sole second a chance to get HEALTHY food for her calves.
OK. Now, do we enjoy watching poor little antelope being killed under the powerful claws and jaws? No, we don′t. Can any vegetarian save the antelope? No, he/she can′t.
And there the story ends.
As long as a vegetarian cannot save an antelope, or a zebra or a fish from another predator, then he/she should not save a chicken, a pig or a cow either.

Nevertheless, when you still prefer living a vegetarian life-style I′ll respect your choice. When you think it′s good for you, it′s good for me too.
