I'm not sure about the exterminator question... I haven never had a bug problem before... my house is quite clean. I have fly screens on the windows and doors and citronella candles to keep the mosquitos away.
I have had mice before though, and I caught them in humane traps and released them at a local park... then went home and sealed the gaps where they may have gotten in.
I don't have a 'private garden'. I rent an apartment because I'm putting all my earnings into savings and towards finishing up my education. I'm earning everything I have in my life on my own, I'm not pulling myself along on my parent's bootstraps or otherwise taking lucky breaks. Everything I have in my life I earned through hard work on my part and on my husband's part.
I don't have any need for an exterminator service because I keep my house clean. Besides if an exterminator is called to the apartment building it would be at my landlord's discretion and pretty much out of my control. If there was a serious pest problem I would prefer to have it dealt with rather than have disease-carrying rodents and bugs infesting my house, I obviously prioritize my daughter's health above all things, as any parent should... but I would much sooner move out of such a slum of an apartment than have to deal with it as a tenant there. Either way it's very far fetched that I'd ever have to deal with the situation.
