I lost about 30 lbs when I went vegan. That is mainly do to that fact that I wasn't sure what foods was vegan and I lived in a small mid-western town that didn't have a lot of prefab vegan foods (I couldn't even find TVP) or other vegans to talk to on the subject. I did, of course, gain it back when I learned what I could eat (beyond the tofu stir-fry and oatmeal with soy milk I ate for the first 4 months or so)
If you have a relatively healthy diet to begin with you probably won't see any dramatic weight loss. Also, there are a lot of helpful websites with recipes. I read the book "Becoming Vegan", it was very helpful for my nutrition questions.
GOOD LUCK!
By the way, being vegan totally rocks, congrats!
you most likely do since you have to cut out ice cream chocolate, cookies, milk, butter, cheese, pizza, mayo, etcc......
Yes its true, being vegan is very healthy & yer not eating all these fatty foods meat-eaters eat. You eat alot of fruits, veggies etc. Just make sure you have enuff proteins etc, becuase meat gives us thoes extra proteins. But you can eat beans, etc to get all the proteins you need.
Congratulations on your decision!! You won't necessary lose or gain weight because you are vegan. It depends entirely on the amount of calories that you take in and expend. As long as you eat healthily, you'll be just fine. Try fitday.com or sparkpeople.com if you need to check calories or other nutrients. Becoming Vegan is a great book for nutritional help and other advice.

I lost 30 pounds over the past year. But I do have a high metabolism. Some lose weight, some gain weight, some stay the same. It's all about eating right. Don't OD on vegan cookies or anything like that.
wow
actually your weight is determined by your ratio of how many calories you eat compared to how many you burn. not eating meat will not change that at all.
Don't forget to check nutrition’s. You have to eat verity to get enough nutrition.
Check out.

yeah, you probably will. be careful-vegans need B12, taurine, and folic acid that will not now occur in what you eat. Taurine is only in meat, and you will need a supplement for that. Watch your calcium too.
Veganism is not a weight loss regime.
If you eat lots of soy ice cream, soy cheeses, veggie burgers etc. you probably will not lose weight. If you don't rely too heavily on the processed stuff, you probably will.
its so healthy! &you do lose wieght. not to mention applesouce mocha cake> fat free AND vegan! good luck
You may become deficient in Iron.Find a list of high iron ,non meat sources.
be careful, you can get fat on a vegan diet too. Just make sure you eat all the veggies you need for your daily vitamins, and limit your intake of bread. Only eat 1-2 servings of whole wheat bread a day. Key is...Green Veggies, seeds, nuts and beans. Try to keep your diet as "whole" and organic as possible. I really like Stevia in place of sugar, but any natural unrefined sugar is good. Oh and of course exercise! Yoga is very good. Good Luck! And when it gets hard just remember all the reasons you went veg in the first place.
Weight has pretty much everything to do with how many calories you consume versus how many you expend. I didn't gain or lose an ounce when I went vegan because my caloric intake didn't change appreciably.
YOUR GOING TO KILL YOUR SELF...YAY
