7 Things You Didn't Know About PETA (Do you still support them)?!

Question: 1) PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has described her group’s overall goal as “total animal liberation.” This means no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no wool, no leather, no hunting, no fishing, and no pets (not even seeing-eye dogs). PETA is also against all medical research that requires the use of animals.
2) Despite its constant moralizing about the “unethical” treatment of animals by restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists, anglers, and countless other Americans, PETA has killed over 14,400 dogs and cats at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. During 2005, PETA put to death over 90 percent of the animals it collected from members of the public.

3) PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsibl

give me a break !!!!!...your over here screaming about the mistreatment of animals..what about people!?... i know were responsible for the well being of our fellow creatures..blah blah blah...what about our fellow man? children? the elderly? the disabled? the homeless!!? OUR VETERANS!!???im pretty sure they need your attention alot more than a chicken in a chicken factory on its way to meet its maker.....im all for animal rights but not when it distracts citizens from caring for their own first.,.......

Nope, they're a bunch of sicko wackos. Never did support em.

Never have, never will. I think they started with a great idea but somewhere along the line it went way, way, off course

You make a few assumptions;

why do you assume
1) that people using this forum support PETA
and
2) that people using this forum didn't know these things
and
3) that we can't count to 7

Great info, I wish these lemming celeb's that support peta knew half of what they were endorsing. Now I'm going to cook me a big fat steak in tribute to peta.
So julia, you are saying that it is acceptable to show small children grotesque pictures of mistreated animals. It is not their responsibility to enforce animal cruelty laws. The government will handle that, just ask mike vick.

YES I DO...
1) those are all ways animals are being treated cruelly/unfairly... animals deserve freedom and in these ways are often mistreated or unhappy.
2) the only reason they would put an animal to death would be if it were suffering from previous mistreatment.
3) no one will listen to the quiet, gentle shoves in the direction of animal liberation, so this makes perfect sense.
4) the youngest generation will soon be the generation running the country... if we don't let them know now, who will? my children will be aware of all of this, you can be sure of that.
5) this is only an unbaised source of information if you don't believe in their cause.
6) many religions' set of beliefs do not go well with the beliefs of animal liberators... it seems right that they would be against these religions.

ive always hated PETA god they bug me sooo much and this just makes me more mad =)

Never have supported them although I am a vegetarian.

yeah, actually, i still support them.

You seem to be assuming that users here did not know your statements (of which you did not cite source[s]) and that those that are veg*n support PETA. Why?

Yes, I have heard some of these statements. I have never neither supported nor cared for PETA.

I just wonder if you're a meat-eater who is trying to act righteous and superior towards veg*ns.

I am Vegan and i Will never Support them in 1000 years!

Yes I do. While I don't agree with all their tactics and beliefs, they still do more good than harm.

PETA is so far out of touch w/reality that I can't imagine a rational person supporting them.

The only people who can handle a PETA endorsed lifestyle would have to be extremely upper middle class. Do they actually consider what the world would be like if everyone had to follow their ludicrous beliefs? You can't feed a world of over 6 billion people on tofu.
What would 3rd world countries do without the ability to use animals to farm? Ya, lets just take their farm animals away because it's not tough enough for them to feed themselves as it is.

Yes.. I've known this about PETA for a while now. You cant trust a site like this at all...

I havent supported them till now and I am not planing to do that in future. I didnt know lot about them, but they seemed to me as fanatics who arent able to respect other peoples choice, no matter that I am a huge animal friend and vegetarian. I brought home my 4 dogies from shelter, I dont eat meat (I am lacto ovo) and I am trying to support and donate animal friendly shelters and projects. For my abilities its the maximum I can do for now, but when I will have chance to do more I will. I dont think that getting naked on the street (where children can see it) and throwing things on people who wears leather is helping to animals, that was my reason till now to not support PETA, but since I read this I am shocked and I wouldnt support them for nothing on this word.
Where did you got this facts? Are you apsolutly sure that all of this is true(no offends)?

lol

and I guess you believe everything that you read? Figures.

I never did support them, just become someone is vegan, doesn't mean that they are animal rights activists, do you come from texas or something?

I do.

WOW! I WATCHED THAT VIDEO AND IT MADE ME FEEL BAD FOR ANIMALS, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THEY DID ALL THAT STUFF. THANKS FOR THE INFO!

When my friend was a vegetarian, she was a member of PETA, and I don't think she had any idea what the organization actually stood for. I became a vegetarian with her (but for different reasons), and I was extremely suspcious of PETA because I read about a campaign where they tried to convince college students that beer is healthier than milk. That set off warning bells for me, and this information just proves that they are a pack of militant, misguided wackos.

PETA is kind of like religion... man can corrupt anything. Over all the thought is good though. We shouldnt harm other creatures for stupid reasons. Many people need to be more aware how products are made... and as with religion they sometimes go overboard.

Yawn. If you don't like them, don't support them, but at least educate yourself so you know what you're talking about instead of believing everything you read and hear.

I own a pit bull so no I do not support them. They say one thing and do the other. They want to get rid of pets. They want all medical testing on animals stopped no matter how much hardship it will cause. Hey what if a few hundred children die as long as the rats are OK. I'm alive now becasue of a pig who gave up part of his heart so I could use it. AS far as doing reserch, for the guy who said know what you are talking about, I have Evrything said on sites like PETA kills can be proven in other places including PETA's own web site. Dose anyone know you can get copies of PETA tax return, as a tax expemt company it is a matter of public record. Go back all the way thur the 90's it is all there for the world to see. By the way Newkirk is insulin depended. Where do you think she gets it from. She had cancer and use all that gathered from animal testing she tells us not to use. What dose that make her?

I like Peta. Actually, your question just made me go over to their website and become a member.
Have a great day.
