To all my fellow animal lovers who dont eat meat..?!
Answers: I've stopped eating meat for about 40 days now, I still eat fish and dairy so I guess I'm considered semi-vegiterian. But anyways my question to you guys is.. do you ever think the point we are trying to make is...well pointless? I mean human beings became what they are now by learning to be hunters. That is how we survived and ruled the world. Animals would of ate us, which is my other doubt, animals eat each other, why do we feel the need to save them if they would eat us too? Yet we feel so strongly about animals being part of us, like us, our neighbors. they breate, eat, sleep, make love, and have families. Who gives us the right to turn them into slaves? Into our dinner everynight!? because their brain doesnt work like ours? how do you feel about this?
It's more of the fact of how the animal was killed to me. Like if it was killed in a humane way then I would be ok with it. But I'm not really into eating something that has been tortured. I'm not saying every animal that is dead was tortured, but most of them were. I've been a vegetarian since November & at first it was kind of hard not to eat animals but now I actually feel very clean & actually happier.
ps
I'm not a big peta fan. Just throwing that out there for anyone who reads my post and wants to criticize me...
That's a good question. I agree that hunting and eating meat were important in pre-historic and early times. Yet an activity does not become morally justified just because it has been going on for a long time. We're not cavemen anymore; we have the knowledge and ability to get our nutrients from vegetarian foods.
As for animals eating other animals... I believe we have a duty to act morally towards others regardless of how anyone else behaves. For instance, the institution of slavery in the U.S. wasn't in any way justified by the fact that rival African tribes routinely conquered and enslaved one another. Similarly, the fact that lions and other carnivorous animals need meat to survive isn't an excuse for us to treat farmed animals cruelly. We don't need to eat meat to survive, and we are actually better off without it. (The American Dietetic Association states that veg diets are "nutritionally adequate" and "provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases").
Also, the way in which humans currently behave towards animals is far worse than the way in which animals behave towards each other (or towards us). See http://www.chooseveg.com/animal-cruelty.... for a graphic illustration of this.
Many people don't go veg overnight, but make a slow transition to a veg diet. Good luck with your diet and ignore the haters!
What point? There a millions of reasons not to eat animals, it is not like some mass boycott or point, there are reasons and facts to why people are vegetarian and vegans, it is way more logical, healthier, and just better to not eat or use animal products.
Fish is meat.
You know that, right?
And no, you aren't semi vegetarian lol you're still a meat eater.
fish have feelings to.
so basically, your telling us, that chickens, pigs, and cows are going to kill each other, eat each other, and if we dont 'defend' ourself, they might eat us?
and i hate it when people say that 'humans' we're developed to eat animals
I am glad you are thinking about this issue rather than turning a blind eye to it like so many do. These are my thoughts and what I have learned:
Most of diet of early man came from gathering, not hunting (the women's work, incidentally).
I am not a vegetarian to make a point, I am vegetarian because I won't support an industry of cruelty by funding it with my purchases. How can I be against something and then participate in it? That would be hypocritical.
Animals who eat other animals have no choice - they can't go make a peanut butter sandwich like we can.
The animals that we eat are vegetarians who would not eat us (pigs, sheep, cows - all peaceful vegan creatures).
Best wishes to you.
You killed a fish to eat - you're going to hell. Its a creature that breathes, eats, sleeps, and reproduces.
Dont let me hear you killed that carrot that was alive and growing in the ground either! or Im going to tell mom
Get a FRIGGIN LIFE, so an animal can eat you!
PS: hypocrite
Please explain your hyprocacy!!!!!!!
Why dont you eat meat
its part of the friggin food chain....
I've thought about this for a long time. But unless everyone in the world becomes a vegetarian its not going to make a difference whether or not you eat a steak and some chicken nuggets. Even if your "share" of the meat that in the grocery store doesn't get bought its just going to get thrown away and then it is just a complete and udder waste. And why is it that you still eat FISH? they weren't living?
Animals don't make love they breed.
Edit and with most animals it is the biggest gets the most. To all thumbs downers, you are nuts.
