Vegans/vegeterians plz read?!


Question: i was looking up vegan restrunts here ifound out tht thers a new restrunt my uncles comming over 2morrow so i decided to ask my mom if we can go out 2 lunch there.right as i walk out the door she asked me if ive been taking my vitamens and i said no because the ones tht she got 4 my bro/sis had fish in it n i cant take it.shes like "u have to take it.ur not eating any meat and u bearly eat ur veggies" it was like she could read my mind. creepy. but anyways shes like ur gonna die from lack of vitamins and ****.i just walked away after that.
what should i tell her?i mean i kno theres vitamins in just about everything not just meat but she said thts not enough.so to get her off my backbesides online,does any1 kno if there is any vitamins tht i can by at stores that are vegan or organic?and where can i find them.and about how much it would cost.
and does anyone kno how i should ask her if we can go 2morrow since shes pissed at me for not eating the fish crap.i heard sperlima works?

Wow I only read all that because I went through the same thing. My mom even tried to hide these vitamins(that had animal products) in my orange juice. It's your body and you can put whatever you chose in it. Eat your veggies that will get your mom off your back. Compromise with her when she asks you to take your vitamins say that would be going against everything you believe in but that you would be happy to eat some vegetables or switch to different vitamins.

The vitamins your mother wants to give you do not have fish in them, but fish OIL. They are perfectly fine for you to take, you will still be a vegetarian. You wouldn't die, at all, but you would feel weak from lack of iron and protein. As a vegetarian, I get my protein from soy meat (Omfg, so good), nuts, and other things. I also take my vitamins, though! Keep in mind that if you're not a vegan, you can eat eggs and other things. But if you're a vegan, take the vitamins.

First I would tell her "Mom, you know that money you've been spending for school so I can get an education and learn how to read and write and stuff? Well, I am afraid it's all a waste because I haven't been going to school and as you can see, I can't spell or write coherently. But I did have time to be a vegetarian, look up "vegan" restaurants and spend time on Yahoo answers"

As for your question,
1) I don't know you or your mother so I cannot decide for you whether you should go to a restaurant or not.. And if you're uncle loves a good steak, then he would not enjoy a vegan restaurant much now would he?
2) there are vegan friendly vitamins and supplements. All you have to do is search for it like you searched for the vegan restaurant

when i first decided to be vegetarian both my parents freaked out and tried millions of ways to convince me to eat meat. They eventually get over it - especially since they saw me eating well. Dont worry, i am sure your mum will also get over it. Since being vegetarian i feel so much healthier and suprisingly i have more iron! Its wierd but some people just have a body suited to vegetarianism while others couldnt do it. I get my proteins and iron from green leafy veg (lots and lots of spinach), tofu, tempeh, lentils, chickpeas, beans, quinoa, yoghurt and wholegrains.
There are heaps of great recipies around its just a matter of trying. I bought an excellent vegetarian cook book with great recipies. I seriously never feel like i am missing out. Just start to try out new things. It took me a while to master cooking tofu but try this simple recipie.
Firm tofu cut into a burger thick slice. BBQ sauce, garlic and Sweet soy sauce. Mix one clove of garlic, a squeeze of bbq sauce and a dash of sweet soy. Rub onto tofu slice and marinate for 1/2hr. Then lightly fry till golden. Its delicious. Serve with lots of veggies and wholemeal bread.
You can also try making lentil burgers or chickpea burgers. Or use lentils in the same bolignaise recipie and use as a pasta sauce or top with mashed potato and bake for a shepards pie.
If you want to start taking supplements i recommend a brand called nutrimedicine. I dont know if its available where you are but used to take the biocomplex formula. It was prescribed to me by a naturopath so i trust it. Just speak to the pharmacist and they will be able to help you out to find a vegetarian pill. Sperlima?? i think you mean spirulina? yes spirulina is supposed to be very good but i have never taken it and i dont know much about it.

I am vegetarian too, and I am regulary taking vitamons and iron, I got it in the pharmacy, you just have to ask for it there and they will show you few kind, or just take the prenatal vitamins in the market, as you know its not alllowed to preggis to eat fish. Besides vitamins are only in vegetables, there is no vitamin in meat. Give her some literature to understand better the human metabolism and needs, so she wont bothering you this much in the furute.
Simply tell her that you are going to take some other vitamin pills and then ask her about the restaurant thing :-)

You're not very bright for an honor student, but maybe you go to a school for slow children.

You need protein. You can get it from a vegetarian diet, but not if you're eating crap. If you're a vegetarian who barely eats veggies then your diet sucks and your mother is right to worry about you.

Perhaps you should do some research on how to have a healthy vegetarian diet instead of cussing at people on the internet.

A balanced diet is required for anyone. One the vegie protein subsubsitute box is listed the amount of protein in each item, normal it contains more grams of protein than meat, without the harmful effects of animal blood, disease. or hormones.
Cows eat grass, they don't appear to have a lack of protein, therwise why do people eat 'em?
Fish has concentrations of mercury. Pork has trichinosis. Beef has mad-cow, and chicken has salmonella. Best to remain vegie...I am.
