Vegetarianism.?!

Question: Okay i've been getting sick lately...the past 1-2 months.
Here's my diet.

Breakfast - Protein shake

Lunch- Sandwhich with whole wheat bread, cheese, mayo, lettuce, & vegetarian turkey slices.

a banana before the gym
and then a protein shake after the gym

Second lunch : some type of vegetarian meal like from trader joes.

then some cereal like honey nut cherios.
and for dinner I have a protein shake.

I eat atleast 1,700 - 2,000 calories a day.

My mom is MAKING me eat salmon because i'm getting sick to easily.

Am I getting sick because of my school or because of my vegetarian diet?

Its probably not your diet, but there is a lot you can do with it to make your health better.

First off, forget those protein shakes their a waste of money. Most contain protein from dairy which is not the best protein health wise.

Instead of the protein shakes try snaking on different seeds and nuts -- sunflowers, almonds, sesames, and pumpkin are all very good. Eat a mixed variety of them in the morning on your way to school.

Secondly, Drink your orange juice. Orange juice has all kinds of good stuff in it and the vitamin C helps boost your immune system.

Third, try eating some vegetables. I do not see any vegetables in your list of things you eat. Get some of those bird's eye steamer fresh frozen veggies. Eat the mixed vegetable one's.

Lastly, stop eating the fish. This is not a protein deficiency problem its most likely just something thats been going around.

For the good fats you been getting from the fish you can get them from flax seeds, walnuts, and soybeans.

This has been an extremely bad year for upper respiratory infections, if that's what you're talking about. Have a lot of people you know also been sick? Point it out to mom. I have to comment that if your diet is lacking in any way it's a lack of vegetables-if anything you are eating too much protein.

I agree with teh above reply.

You may need to count your protein intake, you can get an overdose.
Make sure you have different kinds of fruits and veges as well as grains-like rice.'but it is the season tobe sick.

Instead of protein shakes, try eating soy chick'n nuggets-at A&P - that way you don't get a protein overload, but get enough.

Remember that your milk has protein as well, so that 's THREE drinks, plus normal foods that have protein.
ps- don't eat anything you dont want too- nobody can force feed you

u may have become anemic u need iron like beets brocolie dark veggies and protein shakes arnt meals my friend is a nutristionist u need actual food a sake wont due it.

sounds like you get lots of protein but you could probably do with some leafy greens and other veggies. being veggie or vegan is great for you, if you do it right, but its not a guarantee against illness. Hope you feel better soon.
